Dermalogica is a dermatologist recommended line of skincare products that you won't find in your local drugstore. Dermalogica rarely advertises and relies mainly on word of mouth. Their website can help you locate retailers. I first learned of the Dermalogica line while getting a facial. The aesthetician recommended it highly and told me where to find it. A month later (after my wallet had recovered from the facial) I went to the store and picked up my first container of the Daily Microfoliant.
As its name implies, the Daily Microfoliant is gentle enough for daily use, but don't go thinking that means it is wimpy. This stuff seriously gets the job done. Unlike most exfoliants, the Daily Microfoliant comes as a powder. After cleansing, with your face still a little damp, you shake a little of the powder into your hand and mix it with a small amount of water so that it forms a paste. Then you massage in small circles over your face for a minute. The first time I did it, I was worried because it felt so gentle, I didn't think it could possibly have the result I wanted, but when I rinsed it off, my face felt like it had been sandblasted (in a good way!).
The best aspects of this product are that it has nothing artificial in it, it works better than any exfoliant I've ever used and one bottle lasts between 4-5 months with daily use. The only downfalls are that it is a bit pricey (but it really does last for a long time) and it can take a few tries to get the hang of using the powder.
The best testament to how I feel about this product is that my mom and sister both got a bottle for the holidays!I understand the basic premiss. I have used a very similar product by shiseido, that I feel was strongly based on the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant.
Here's the skinny: (and I am dead serious this works fabulously) I use white rice flour or sweet rice flour for extra sensitive skin. It can be used to cleans and or leave on (like a mask) for 15-20-mins and wiped off w/ a damp cloth.
you can recycle and clean any large shaker for cheese or spices to dispense from the bulk amount of rice flour.
compair white rice flour at $2.00 a LBs to $36.00 plus S/H for 2.60z
A chemist once told me when I was 13-yrs old and in love w/ Noxzema, that the best skin care products, are things you can eat. Because our skin eats what we put on it. How cam it really digest all the chemicals and waxes, etc????
Another cool idea: roes water, cucumber juice or aloe vera juice put into travel size spray bottles, make great skin toners. (just remember to always keep them refrigerated and check their freshness, before each use.
I hope some ppl think this is useful : )

This product is THE finest facial cleanser I have used in my 63 years on Earth! After the Special Cleansing Gel, a brisk rub with this microfoliant removes stuff you would never see and never know was there. The result? A soft pink, healthy glow to cheeks, and the smoothest skin imaginable ~ even at 63! Since I've used this product, my face is smoother than it has ever been. I still use the Skin Prep Scrub every 10 days or so. I SWEAR by Dermalogica!!Read Best Reviews of Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (select option/size) Here
I have sensitive, acne-prone skin. I was experiencing horrible break-outs on my cheeks and chin in my early 30's and decided to finally see an aesthetician. Having sensitive skin meant that I could not endure benzyl peroxide, intense glycolic peels, or even microdermabrasion. Her answer was to treat me with a series of mild lactic acid peels and have me follow a regimen of Dermalogica products, including Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant. After 6 weeks of treatment, my skin stopped breaking out and healed. After 10 weeks of treatment, my skin evened out and I my scars were barely noticeable. At 12 weeks, I could leave the house without any make-up and no one would have ever guessed I had acne.I have continued using Dermalogica products and I notice a difference when I am not using the Microfoliant as my skin feels rougher than usual and I get small breakouts on my chin. I don't always have to use it every day but it is gentle enough so that I could if I wanted to. With my sensitive skin, it is the only thing that doesn't make my face red and irritated after using it.

I use this every morning after I cleanse and before I use toner. It is after all called DAILY Microfoliant. You really only need a small amount. I like to wash my face in the shower, so it presents a small problem. Mostly because its a powder and you cant get it the bottle near water. However, I have found it reasonably easy to use and it works great. My skin looks and feels great. Its softer, more smooth and I have less breakouts. Its gentle enough for my combination skin. Doesn't dry out my dry areas and it takes away all the oil. Definetly the best exfoliant I've used.
