Molton Brown Enlivening Toko-Yuzu Bath and Shower - Yuzu

I did that thing, where I bought something not realizing how much I was getting. My girlfriend buys the Philosophy body washes in the big sizes. They're like two liter coke bottles. I got tired of smelling like a gingerbread girl and started shopping for a "manly" body wash. I thought at this price, I'd be getting the gallon size. Yes. It says "10 oz" clearly in the title. This is not something I noticed until it came in the mail. I felt like an idiot.

But shower with it. The scent is amazing. Masculine, but not in an Old Spice or Musk sort of way. It's citrusy and spicy. I want to drink a cocktail that smells like this. Something with bourbon and ginger simple syrup. It's also really rich. You can get two latherings out of a drizzle of this stuff. A little bit of this stuff makes a lot of soap. I'm fairly confident that the bottle is going to last 4-6 months.

The enlivening part? It smells good. It's fresh. But it's not like scrubbing yourself with caffeine. It makes mornings slightly more bearable. Not a quick fix at all.

I love the Toko Yuzu scent of this Molton Brown bath and shower gel. It used to be the standard scent and bath product at the Hotel Icon in Houston until they switched to a different brand. I loved the scent so much that I had to hunt all over for it, discovering that the only store in my area that carries it is Neiman Marcus.

Toku Yuzu is a bit spicy with notes of citrus, and can be classified as gender neutral scent for both men and women. There is also a complimenting Molton Brown London Enlivening Toko-Yuzu Body Lotion Soin Corporel Revitalisant 6.6 fl oz (200 ml) in the same scent it is a little smaller than the bath gel and unlike the gel, the scent is not as long lasting (perhaps due to hand washing..) I love this scent and like layering it with both the bath gel and lotion.

It is expensive, but a little goes a very long way; the bottle has lasted me nearly 5 months.

The scent is gorgeous at first but turned really strange on me as I continued showering, almost like vegetable soup, there was a whiff of shallots or something like it for me. I could barely finish showering with it, it was so unpleasant.

I must say, other than the scent, I don't find Molton Brown body washes that great in terms of lathering power. Maybe I'm used to the industrial strength lather from drugstore body washes that rely on all kinds of nefarious chemicals, which I should hope Molton Brown products avoid.

If you can sample this first, I suggest you do. I certainly couldn't tell in the store how this would turn on me after the initial wave of scent.
