I've been using this product for years and am always getting compliments on my skin. I stopped for a a couple of weeks at one time to try another brand, and noticed my skin was not as clear and bright as it used to be, so I switched back. I think it might irritate those with sensitive skin because of the formula used to lighten aging spots and freckles. That formula tends to irritate regardless of what brand you use, but I'm used to it, so it doesn't irritate my skin at all. If you just want clean, clear skin and don't have to worry about aging spots or freckles, try Shiseido's Beneficiance line.

This face wash is great, because it leaves my skin feeling super clean. I used to think Shiseido's White lucent line was meant to actually lighten your skin. I actually like being tan, so I stayed away from this product. However, I realized that the whitening line is actually used to even out your skin tone. When I break out, I get mild dark spots that take weeks to fade. I use this face wash along with the other white lucent products to get even toned skin! I recommend it.

I don't know about the brightening effect, but nonetheless i love this product a lot. My skin is so sensitive and this product is still good on me. I think this is the only cleanser that I bought so far that does deep cleansing and still good on my sensitive skin! only buying this one from now on! :)

I love this cleansing foam. It's very creamy so no need to use a lot. I'm very satisfied with the product but I wish the price was a little bit cheaper.

the face wash is very mild w/o any strong scents or greasy creaminess. i didn't see indication it did any brightening to my face after 6+ months of use. i've switched to try other products in the line since but it's definitely my safe facewash (i buy the travel size versions to avoid problems w/ airport security)
