Boots Botanics Conditioning Clay Mask 4.2 fl oz (125 ml)

Boots Botanics Conditioning Clay Mask 4.2 fl ozI never do product reviews, but this one deserved it.

I'm 23--my skin is okay, my biggest gripes are my uneven skin tone (reddish, yellowish) and my up-closely visible pores (nose, chin, and cheeks, kinda).

The woman at Ulta insisted that there was no product out there that would clear out your pores, so I was determined to prove her wrong! Truth be told though, there really is no "product" because what cleared my pores was almost 100% natural.

I think besides it actually working, my favorite part is that I can actually pronounce all 6 ingredients. 6 only! Amazing. I know I'm bombarded by chemicals in every aspect of my life, but, I try to steer away nonetheless.

Anyway, the mud has a very thin consistency but be careful not to be fooled and put it on too thick because I think it hinders the pores from opening to release the dirt/oils. After you put it on, you let it dry/work its magic for 10-20 minutes (I left mine for 25 while doing a quiz) and you can see that as time goes by, the mask dries to a light green, but where ever your pores are has a dark green dot where the oil is being pulled out. The particularly clogged pores will leave even bigger oil spots.

AWESOME! You can actually see it working and draining your pores! It's quite literally amazing.

After I washed it off, my pores looked immediately smaller, and now ~8 hours later, the pores on my nose are completely closed. I am in love. I've been looking for so long, and I've tried exfoliating, Biore strips, Clearsil, Neutrogena, etc. but to no avail.

For only 10 bucks at Target, it was worth every penny. Especially after such immediate results after just one use. My cheeks and chin aren't completely closed, but they definitely look much better, I hope continued use will solve that. I'm excited to see what the other plant derived products by Boots can do for my skin!!

I like everyone else who wrote a review, absolutely love this product. To be honest I love everything in the Boots Botanics line that I have tried. After many years of struggling with acne and dark spots this line works great. I have tried Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, ProActiv, PanOxyl, Aveeno, and several expensive things that my dermatologist recommended to me nothing worked except for Accutane but I did not like the book filled with side effects. ANYWAYS, notice how everyone in the posts mention that they are buying their Boots products at Target. Not HERE on Amazon, but at an actual brick and motar store. If you want to try the line go for it, it is wonderful. HOWEVER buying it form Amazon is not a save. They are about 45% 65% cheaper at Target. If going to a Target is not an option then, buy it from . No I am not advertising for Target it just happens to be the only store I know that carries the line as I have not seen it at my local CVS or grocery store.

I love this stuff. Having an oily t-zone my whole life, I've used a lot of prepared clay masks over the years, and this one is my favorite so far.

(I have not yet tried the dry clay powder which one mixes with water, vinegar, etc. at home I might give that a whirl someday.)

Positives of the Boots Botanics Conditioning Clay Mask:

Not drying, but soaks up a lot of oil;

makes my pores appear smaller;

makes my skin feel soft;

does not cause any breakouts on my spot-prone skin.

Note: this mask permanently stains my facecloths/towels, so I use an old one when I apply and remove this mask. I generally find it's quickest and least messy to put the mask on half an hour before a shower and then let the shower water wash the bulk of it off before using hands or a cloth to get the rest off.

This clay mask is an own-brand product for the Boots drugstore chain in the United Kingdom. Generally, I find the Boots own-brand toiletry/makeup items to be only so-so, yet priced higher than they are worth, but this item is superb.

This product is available at any Boots drugstore in the UK for about 4 dollars (plus, it is usually sold as "buy two, get one free"). Getting three tubes for eight dollars sure beats the prices that prevail here!

(If your travel plans have you going to the UK or even just connecting to a second flight through a UK airport, there is usually a Boots drugstore nearby, usually in every airport terminal, sometimes inside the secure zone. I checked quite a small Boots outlet within the security zone in Heathrow terminal 4 last month, and they did have this mask on the shelf.)

Ways to get it in the US:

1. Target bricks-and-mortar. In the US, Target department store distributes a small selection of Boots' own-brand products. In July, I noticed that my local Target in the US, which is only a medium-sized Target, did have this, for about nine ninety five. (I am not sure if the Target website has an online selection of the Boots range, but that's a possibility.)

2. Online from Boots themselves: A few years ago when I checked into whether I could place an order (for a lot of different products) from Boots' UK website and receive the box at an address in the US, their policy was not to deliver to the US. **Edit in late September 2012: I now see in an ad on this Amazon page that shopbootsusa dot com is the Boots pharmacy official US website I'll have to take a look and see what they carry!**

3. Online from elsewhere: In late September 2012, I noticed that drugstore dot com carries a lot of Boots products about 150-200 items. At that time, they were on sale there for twenty percent off, a great deal.

Other info:

On that bottle I got from Target, it says this one is made in Canada, and the first ingredient is "maris limis: sea silt", not "oceanic clay" which is listed as the first ingredient in the item description here on Amazon, but that is probably technically the same thing.

The bottle says "distributed in the US by Boots Retail USA Inc., Stamford, CT. Questions? 1-866-75-BOOTS. "

I love the Boots line. I'll be 48 in a few months but you wouldn't know it by my skin. I don't even have any crow's feet! I credit the Boots line of skin care for that! I do have connective tissue disease and get odd rashes at times. I was looking for something gentle but effective to deep cleanse my skin and, lo and behold, I got an email from the Boots USA site announcing a sale on this clay mask. I figured I'd give it a try.

Wow, I really love how it tightened my skin without drying and left it clear and soft! It feels really good on your skin and washes away easily. I absolutely agree with the reviewer who recommended a dedicated wash cloth to use because it do es stain the cloth. I am excited to add this to my skin care regimen! I'm wondering how often most people use the mask -once per week? More than that? Less? There wasn't guidance on the container.

Finally, I came here to Amazon to see if they had any specials or sets that included the mask. I was shocked to see the price Amazon is charging! At the Boots USA website, I paid $7.39 for it and I got a free canvas zippered tote bag, too! I don't understand why Amazon is charging so much! I usually buy my Boots products at drugstore.com or bootsusa.com and I wait until I need several items so I can order all at once and get free shipping. The store with the red bullseye has a lousy selection and doesn't keep even that adequately stocked. But look for Boots to be widely available at Walgreen's in the near future. Walgreen's just purchased 45 percent of the Boots company.

I LOVE this mask! I am new to the Boots line...I purchased this along with the Boots Organic Smoothing Polish and I am happy I have finally found products that work for my skin. I had clear skin until I hit my 20's. I don't have acne but I do get blemishes often. I stuck with Neutrogena for years, just because it was "Dermatologist recommended" but it never really cleared my skin up. Over the years I also tried Aveeno, AcneFree, ProActive, St.Ives, Clean & Clear, Belli, etc. I got used to the fact that it was probably just the way my skin was and nothing would ever fix it. I came across the Boots line at Target, and I especially love the organic line (I'm currently pregnant now). I can't wait to purchase more of their products!
