Pangea Organics Facial Cleanser - Egyptian Calendula & Blood Orange Facial Liquid Cleansers

I was interested in a chemical free cleanser and came across Pangea Organics products. I have been using the facial cleanser for about a month now and I couldn't be happier. I have oily, somewhat acne-prone skin and have used countless products over the years. The anti-inflammatory ingredients were appealing and I believe they have contributed to the noticeable reduction in redness and occasional break-outs.

If you are accustomed to cleansers typically made for oily and or acne prone skin, the initial consistency and feel of this cleanser is different, because it doesn't dry out your skin in the same way. However, soon the smooth nature of the product feels great and does a great job of cleansing the skin without stripping it and drying it out. My overall skin tone has improved significantly.

I have since purchased the face lotion and hope for continued success with these products. Highly recommended.

Its refreshing and comprised of natural ingredients. However, I did not notice any amazing changes to my skin or face. BUT I did not break out or have any adverse reactions. So in theory obtaining the same results from a heavy-chemical FREE face wash is definitely beneficial as opposed to rubbing lots of inorganic substances into your face. However, this stuff is not the cheapest... Oh and it smells like orange big time so if you DO NOT like orange, skip this.

I love the story behind this product and I love what the company as a whole does. However, their facial care products are kind of a dud for me, especially this cleanser. I have very, very uncomplicated skin. My usual routine is Cetaphil, apricot scrub, and a simple light face lotion with SPF, twice a day, the end. I used this for a few weeks and while it did in fact clean and it did in fact make my skin feel good, it turned my face into a huge greasy slab. The oiliness of my face got to the point where I was too self-conscious to keep using this. I would cleanse, scrub, tone, and even sometimes skip the moisturizer and still, within a few minutes, it would look like I'd smeared Crisco on my face. I have to assume the oiliness came from the product, as it did not cause me to break out or anything. It just looked ridiculous.

At first the only thing I liked about this cleanser was the smell. It smells like plants and flowers. I really didn't like the fact that it was a cream cleanser and didn't lather up or get 'soapy' it was sort of like rubbing watery lotion on your face, but that's the nature of cream cleansers. Also, It didn't do a very good job of removing mascara or eyeliner it just kind of smeared it all around.

However, I wanted to give this a fair trial so I used it for one week, instead of my normal cleanser. I had to use a makeup remover for mascara and eyeliner, but used only the cleanser on my face. It didn't leave my face feeling 'squeaky clean', but it felt like my face still had it's natural moisture and oil. I didn't have to use my facial moisturizer. At the end of the week my face seemed more even-toned and moisturized, but I had three pimples come up overnight, which never happens with the stuff I normally use. I have a very oily face though, so I guess I need something to dry it out a little and I don't believe Pangea has anything for very oily skin yet.

Overall I gave this product four stars because;

a) A portion of proceeds go directly to the Pangea organization that is being established to help the environment.

b) It's made of all natural ingredients.

c) It smells better than most organic cleansers.

d) It won't dry out your skin, but calms it and moisturizes.

So while this particular product did not really work for me, I believe it would be awesome for someone with normal or dry skin. I hope they can tweak it a little to work better for oily faces!

This cleanser is, in a word, lovely. I purchased it because of the clean ingredient list and will stick with it because it's so gentle and effective. It smells amazing and does a nice job of removing make-up without irritating or drying my skin. If you're expecting a bubbly, sudsy cleanser, this might take some getting used to -it initially feels more like a lotion than a soap.
