My husband gave this to me as a gift for my birthday a year ago. I have used it regularly since that time. It holds a charge for about a week of regular daily use. When the battery needs charging it will just suddenly quit, no slowing down or losing power gradually. It is indeed waterproof, I use mine in the shower without worrying about it getting wet. I will admit I have not completely submersed it, as in a tub or sink, though. It works well, my skin is cleaner with fewer minor blemishes. It works as promised in reducing the size of your pores as well. I've always had larger pores on my cheeks and nose. No special soap needed, I use a mild cleanser for sensitive skin. I don't think I would use an abrasive cleanser with it, that might prove irritating. Price is great when compared to similar products. Some are well over $100. Pay attention to how it seats on the charger and you can avoid some of the issues other reviewers had with not charging. I really like the Nutra Sonic and I'm happy with it's performance. I have not felt a need to purchase any accessories. Good value.
