For the reviewer who was disappointed that the fragrance of this product did not linger after use, I will share what I have learned about scented cleansing products: The fragrance is meant to please you as you wash your hands, shower, bathe, etc. Washing your hands becomes sensuous, and you might linger because the pleasing fragrance billows up out of the wash bowl as you lather your hands and rinse. It is a kind of in-the-moment aromatherapeutic experience. You may notice a bit of the fragrance immediately after drying your hands, but again, the scent was part of the washing experience. If you want scent to linger, you will need to apply it in the form of cologne, eau de toilette, or perfume. These types of products are specially formulated to linger once applied to the skin. The same principle applies to scented drawer paper or sachets. Fragrance wafts up as you open the drawer or closet, but is not formulated to transfer onto your clothing. It simply makes opening the closet or drawer a lovely moment.

Like you, I too was disappointed many years ago when I found that scented soaps did not deliver a more permanent fragrance to my skin. A Caswell-Massey sales person explained that I would need to use cologne or perfume in order to enjoy the experience of lavender beyond simply washing my hands. I hope this helps, and I hope you will not give up searching for the fragrance and the cologne or perfume that is perfect for you.

Yardley English Lavender Antibacterial Liquid Hand Soap is good quality, lathers decently, doesn't dry the skin, rinses well, and smells like true lavender.

However, it does contain an antibacterial chemical, triclosan, which infection control experts say should not be used routinely and which may be harmful to the environment so I can only give it 4 stars. I really wish Yardley would remove the triclosan.

The best way to remove germs from your hands and prevent the spread of illness is to use warm water, lather well, and rub your hands together for at least twenty seconds to create plenty of friction.

Missed the smell of Yardley's lavender soap so much that I had to buy this online. I like it better than the B&B Works antibacterial soaps. It doesn't dry out your skin as much as theirs. Maybe that's why it's so much more than B&B's.
