Clinique Acne Solutions Cleansing Bar For Face & Body

Clinique Acne Solutions Cleansing Bar For Face & BodyI never really had any acne as a teen. I could probably count less than 10 times the entire time I was in Junior High and High School that I had a zit.

However, when I turned about 20 I began to break out on my face, shoulders, back and chest. I was horrified. I went to a dermatologist who declined to treat me with tetracycline due to the fact that I'm pretty fair skinned.

He recommended:

1. Salicylic acid soap to use every day on all affected areas.

2. A lotion containing salicylic acid (I use "clean & clear dual action"). He told me to avoid benzoyl peroxide. He felt it aged the skin and though I was only in my twenties, he felt that the damage would be cumulative and I'd be sorry by the time I reached my thirties and beyond.

3. Cetaphil cleanser to be used if my face got too dry.

4. Change your pillow case every day because bacteria on your skin that becomes trapped in clogged pores worsens acne so the less exposure to the bacteria, the better. This was a very important piece of advice to me. My acne improved much faster when I began doing this.

Anyway, about this Clinique soap: I'm in my 40's now with oily skin and I find that this soap is fairly gentle on my skin and I don't get alot of drying most of the time only sometimes in the winter.

It has an inoffensive scent and it works. I pay less than half of what the price is on here and though that still might seem expensive, I use the soap every day and a bar lasts me at least 2 months. I recommend that you don't leave it in the shower though because the bar is a bit soft and if it stays wet for long periods of time it tends to melt away much faster. The last 3 bars of this soap I paid less than 9 smackers per bar because the bars came without the plastic soap dish which I didn't really want anyway. Do a search and I bet you'll figure out where I got mine. I'd mention it here but I think it's prohibited.

When I follow the above advice, I never get break outs. Maybe once or twice a year at the very most. When I don't follow it, my skin will get dull and begin breaking out in less than a week.

One last thing: Aveeno makes a bar soap with salicylic acid in it. I've not tried it yet but it's super inexpensive and I've seen it in many dept stores and in my local drug store. I have every intention of trying it soon and if it works, then I'll switch to it due to cost and availability.

Luckily, I never had to deal with bad acne, but in my late teens and early 20s (I'm 23 now) I started getting sporadic cystic pimples. They're really hard to deal with, because they're embedded deep, deep in your skin and take weeks to heal. I was using another product that just seemed to be making them worse, so I switched to Clinique. I've used their products in the past and figured they'd be the best bet. After just a few days of using this, as well as Proactiv Spot Treatment (I only bought one one Clinique product for now... they're expensive because the quality is better) my two cystic pimples cleared up immensely.

The soap does seem to dry out your face a little bit, so I use the Clinique Moisturizing Gel I already have (not in the Acne Solutions line). That helps.

If possible, go to a department store (like Macy's) to get the bar soap. It's only $14.

I buy it for my wife and she like it. Leave the skin smooth and soft. The price is too high for a soap!

I love this product. I used to work as a beauty consultant, and so I was able to learn the ins and outs of some beauty products. I love the cleansing bar because you can cut it in half, and use one half at a time. It will last TWICE as long. I highly recommend getting the bar over the pump. I was very satisfied with my purchase. I was happy that Amazon had this product on their site.

My 13 y.o. daughter has mild acne and we have been using the

entire set. I noticed she had quite a few more bumps on her back that would

be noticeable. I bought the bar soap and I have noticed a reduction of the

breakouts on her back.
