DDF Brightening Cleanser

I wanted something to help even out my skin that wouldn't leave it in worse shape than before I started with it. I did a LOT of research and for the most part heard nothing but good about this. Of course if you have sensitive skin, some things will not work for you as they did for others.

I have no clue what the reviewer claiming it has hydroquinone in it was talking about. The ingredients say no such thing. She should have done her own research instead of believing what someone else (with ulterior motives)told her. It DOES have Alpha Hydroxy in it, but that is right on the bottle itself (as well as a warning to protect your skin while using it and after).

I've been using it for about a week and a half now (twice a day) and the first noticeable thing was how much smoother my skin is. I have noticed a brightening as well, which is great considering the whole purpose of the product, LOL. I want to get rid of the tan I have after more than 11 years in Southern California. I am originally from the East Coast and am not used to year round sun exposure and it's wrecked havoc on my skin. I have used much harsher items on my skin and although they worked quickly, they were not something I could use permanently and feel comfortable. I am glad I came across this.

The one thing I will remind you of is to use a great moisturizer after. I use Cetaphil (just half a pump) and it's perfect.

I too received this as a sample in my birch box and so glad I did. First off, my skin was a mess prior to using this (and a new lotion, more on that later). I have combination skin with minor rosacea, dry patches, mild acne, dark spots, and fine lines. I was hesitant at first, thought this cleanser would dry my skin out worse than it already was but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway and I'm so glad I did.

The first thing I noticed was the smell which is a black licorice, I hate black licorice. Otherwise it's a nice cleanser, doesn't burn, foams lightly and rinses clean. Over the past 3 weeks (using 1x a day) my acne has improved and my skin does look brighter, I've also noticed my pores are a lot smaller which is a huge bonus. My dark spots have gotten lighter too. After about the first week and a half I still had my dry patches and had to use 2 moisturizers in the morning and another at night, that was until I began using Cerave PM (recommendation from a friend) and holy smokes it's a winning combination! I use it 2x a day (am/pm) and no more dry patches and my skin feels soft and fresh. I know this review is for the brightening cleanser but this moisturizer is amazing. If you have skin like mine and begin using this cleanser I recommend the moisturizer too, like I said it's a winning combination for sure!!

I gave it four stars due to the smell and the drying factor however if I could have given it 4.5 I would!

I received this product in my Birchbox a while ago. This cleanser is said to be a brightener. I did notice that it helped clear up my dull complexion. If you don't like strong smelling facial washes,then this is not for you. The smell of licorice is kind of intense. This product is also very drying. I found that I couldn't use it everyday,and when I did I needed a good thick moisturizer or something like jojoba oil or argon oil (used at night) to help with the dryness. The second wash is when I finally liked the product a little more and really saw the difference in my skin.

I've used every product under the sun. I have sensitive skin, sometime oily, some small break outs on the chin and lower neck. This product has helped to remove blemishes, and I'm on to my second bottle. I love the way my skin looks. Even after the first use, my skin looked fresher and brighter.
