Stri-Dex Medicated Pads, Sensitive, 90-Count Boxes (Pack of 3)

Stri-Dex Medicated Pads, Sensitive, 90-Count BoxesI've used various brands of medicated pads for years. I tend to stick with Stridex or Oxy (depends on what's on sale really) but I always got the best results from Stridex. Stridex makes a few varieties of pads but I usually pick up the Sensitive Skin or Maximum Strength varieties with either giving very good results. Below is a review for the Stridex: Sensitive Skin (w/ Aloe) pads; a great choice if you have sensitive skin which dries or is easily irritated.

I actually have sensitive skin but find the Maximum pads give better results (probably due to 1.5% more salicylic acid). Still those pads irritate so the trade off sometimes isn't worth it. For basic, every day use I stick to the sensitive variety. These pads contain only 0.5% of the active ingredient (salicylic acid) plus contain Aloe, which makes them very soothing on the skin. The pads definitely get the job done. Unlike the maximum pads, these do not dry out my skin or irritate yet still manage to do a great job taking oil and dirt off my face. I tend to only use one pad a day, sometimes two if need be and find it is more than enough.

In terms of preventing breakouts, the pads work well. One a day is good for a cleaning, but two a day (usually I do morning and evening) end up doing a fine job with prevention. As for handling a break out, the Sensitive pads I find to be the weakest of the bunch to combat a break out. This probably is also due to the decreased amount of active ingredient. Still if one pad isn't enough, applying another pad won't hurt since these are designed to sooth your skin and not go to war on dirt and oil like Maximum strength pads are. So despite lacking in strength, it makes up for it in a more controlled application of the active ingredient.

OVERALL The Stridex Medicated Pads for Sensitive skin are great to own for someone with sensitive skin. Cleaning/prevention they do a fantastic job, but actually fighting a breakout they come across average at best due to less active ingredient. Still, these make for a great alternative to prevent irritated or dry skin. They get the job done, even if one or two extra pads might be necessary throughout the day.

I've been using noxzema pads up to this point.

The noxzema ones sting like hell (which I sort of liked because it feels like it's 'working') and caused a lot of dry skin afterwards(which wasn't cool).

With the Stridex ones, there is no stinging (a mild tingling at the most) and most importantly causes no drying out on the skin.

I can't really say if one works better than the other (both do work well in clearing up and preventing breakouts).

But if one can do the job without some of the unwanted side-effects at around the same price... well...

I would recommend to anyone with very sensitive skin and/or dry skin.

As for the remaining noxzema pads, I will be putting them to good use on the breakouts on my arm.
