I recently started shaving with a Double Edge Safety Razor, Brush, and Soap. I wanted to try a 100% natural/organic Shave Soap since many soaps today are produced with just a few natural ingredients. I want to avoid any potential side-effects( or carcinogenic properties) that various chemicals in other soaps may cause. I normally use Van Der Hagen Glycerin soap, I was looking for another soap that provided the same smooth gliding performance.

I chose 2 soaps to test this BambuEarth Shave Soap and Kiss My Face Moisture Shave Soap. I tested them separately and (later) together. By itself the BambuEarth soap can be stirred(with a shaving brush) into a lather but it is not the kind of thick lather one would want, it dries out within 60 seconds of applying it to the face. The protective property the soap should provide is therefore lost. The Kiss My Face soap is a cream/liquid, it needs to be stirred in a bowl/mug before it can be used. Trying to apply it to the face and then rubbing it around achieves very little(as the instructions tell you to do). It makes your skin feel very "glossy", the razor does not glide well over the soap.

I therefore had 2 soaps which by themselves failed to produce desirable results. So I mixed them together. I added the Kiss My Face cream/liquid to the bar of BambuEarth soap. I then stirred both in the bowl until I got a creamy thick lather. The resulting shave is almost the same as I get from the Van Der Hagen soap(there was still some glossy feeling to my face while shaving with the combination). The bar of BambuEarth soap itself is very large, filling my shaving bowl about 3/4 of the internal volume.

I haven't tried other soaps yet, I can say this soap by itself does not function as one would expect. Mixing the 2 soaps was necessary in my experience, I would prefer not to do that. It is also not very cheap, especially both soaps together. I will be trying other Shaving Soaps in the future.
