I've been using this for several weeks now, with great results. As some others have done, I started with T-Gel; first the regular, then the Extra Strength, which I used for several years. It helped, but when I used it every other day my scalp would still have build-up and be itchy on the days I didn't used it.

The Psoriatrax has drastically reduced the itching and scalp build-up to where I'm not miserable if I go a day without washing my hair. Definitely the best product I've used in my case; it hasn't eliminated my psoriasis altogether, but paired with MG217 for the trouble spots (behind my ears, or anywhere not on my scalp) it makes my psoriasis a footnote instead of a headline in my life.

I bought this last week after doing a lot of research; I used to use T-gel extra strength, but after I compared it with this, I realized the Psoriatrax has a 5% concentration of coal tar, and the T-gel has only 2%! I've used it twice now (itchy scalp from the summer heat, etc.), and it's really nice. It doesn't smell any stronger than the T-gel, but my hair feels very clean afterward and only has a tiny bit of the coal-tar scent (even after I apply conditioner; oh well, you can't have it all!).

Overall I think it's a good deal, considering the concentration--nothing else I researched even came close....

This coal tar shampoo is one of the best things you can use on stubborn dandruff. If you have tried all the other dandruff shampoos without success, give this one a try. Contains the maximum concentration of coal tar allowable in the US (5%). Be forwarned though, it doesn't smell very pleasant. For really tough dandruff, alternate daily with a shampoo containing salicylic acid, such as Denorex. Guaranteed combination to knock out anyone's dandruff problem. Don't forget to use cool water. too. Hot water dries out the skin.

WOW!!!!!!!!! I have been dealing with horrendous itching and dandruff for the past 2 years. I didnt know what was gonig on... I actually itched to the point where i developed little bumps that turned into scabs... I actually buzzed my head every week since that was the only thing that seemed to help.. I have finally found something that works. I have tried everything except Rx; Denorex, H&S, lotions, creams, acids, you name it.

After moving to a cold winter climate from year-round sun, my scalp psoriasis reared it's ugly head ( ha ha ), and I was honestly considering calling in sick to work one day because it was THAT bad. It was non-stop misery. If I wasn't trying not to scratch my head, I was wondering if any quarter-sized flakes were resting on my lapel or collar.

When you make the switch it takes a few days to get used to a shampoo without silicone and other nasty ingredients. I bought this as a natural way to take care of my sometimes dry, itchy scalp. It has ingredients that fight scalp problems naturally, lathers well and smells like plantains. It doesn't strip the moisture from my Afro-textured hair which is a huge plus when it comes to dandruff/clarifying shampoos.

I started off with the Shea Moisture Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner. I loved the shampoo and the conditioner wasn't the best but I was invested enough to try the rest of their line. Walgreens had a BOGO (Buy one get one free) sale so I bought this shampoo, the purification mask, the hibiscus milk and my favorite shea butter shampoo. I was experiencing an itchy scalp so I used this. I'm not happy with the results. My hair felt so stripped it literally squeaked after the rinse. I had to hurry and do a moisture treatment. And worst of all, my scalp actually became more itchy! I went back back to the shea butter shampoo for my next wash and all was well again. Not wanting to waste it, I use the black soap shampoo as a body wash, which it actually seems better suited for.

The Shea Moisture products have been a hit or miss for me. I love the Shea Butter Shampoo and Deep Conditioner Treatment, The Black Soap Purification Masque, and The Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie. Also the shea moisture line is sold in stores and on their respective websites (walgreens and target) for 9.99, so don't let them price gouge you here! This product did not really help with my scalp issues, there are much cheaper shampoos that will have the same results. Also, I realize this is Sulfate free, but this was extremely hard to use, it felt like I was rubbing glue in my hair.

But that was totally my fault for not reading more carefully about the product. So if you are looking for an orange scent, this is not it. I don't like the grapefruit scent at all.

I use this product at the earliest sign of a pimple's arrival. I keep it out on the bathroom counter or wherever I need to remind myself to keep using it. When I first heard of this product I said to myself, "How cool, it's MAGIC."
