Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, For All Skin Types

When I find a product to be excellent, I tend to remain loyal. I may try others, but I return to the one which continues to prove it's excellence year after year. Despite more costly products I've tried as samples, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser has been my cleanser of choice for many years. I've tried a generic brand from CVS and found it to be much more slimy and thick than the real thing and gave it away to a less scrutinizing customer.

My skin and eyes are extremely sensitive and can become dry, so I am very cautious when trying new products. This one was recommended by a dermatologist and I'm very grateful for the suggestion because it meets my desires in a cleanser. It is extremely gentle, fragrance free and can be used directly on my eyes. I apply it onto my dry face, rub it all over, including the eyelids, then rinse it off and pat my face dry. Although it comes in a pump bottle, I put a little in a sample size bottle because that takes up less space in the medicine cabinet and I never have drips fall anywhere. I wash the little bottle to keep it germ free. I gave a large bottle to my sister because she was so impressed by the cleansing power, too. Her initial reaction was that it was a little slimy, but after using it as I suggested, she agreed that it is a superior product and a bargain. In all honesty, I don't know if she's returned to using CHANEL cleanser, but I am as faithful to Cetaphil as I am to Kiehl's for all other skin care products. If you too have sensitive skin, try the Kiehl's Cucumber Tonic after cleansing for a nice treat.

I've used this skin cleanser for close to 20 years and love it!!! Very gentle, doesn't dry out skin and removes makeup wonderfully. Gentle enough to remove eye makeup too. Leaves skin moisturized and soft. Be sure not to confuse with Cetaphil's Daily Facial Cleanser...totally different, but deceivingly similarly looking on the shelf.

okay, i never had teen acne, not even in my 20's. I'm 33 now. I started breaking out 2 years ago in January and I have purchased COUNTLESS products (mostly from Amazon because of the reviews) to treat the acne. I mean rose water, putting sandalwood powder, potato skins, lemon juice, masks, peels, all the 'acids' that they sell on this site to fight the acne scars, pills, man you name it. I bought this Cetaphil gentle cleanser 4 weeks ago and my acne .... just ..... stopped. I use it when I shower, then use Cetaphil's Moisturing Lotion while my face is semi-wet after the shower. Trust me, this has been an ef'd up journey that has somewhat zapped me of my self-esteem and confidence and Cetaphil, thus far, has pulled through. I'll update if it fails. My dermatologist gave me a free sample of this after being diagnosed with facial eczema. Here are the pros: gentle, non-irritating, fragrance free, won't burn even on inflamed skin.

Now the cons: contains parabens and SLS's. I won't get into why these chemicals are bad for us here, please take a moment to research those to form your own opinion. Also this cleanser has like a mucus texture to it. Kinda gross feeling.

It doesn't lather either. But it does remove make-up, and any other gook on your face.

I do pair this with Cetaphil Fragrance Free Moisturizing Lotion, 16-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 2), which I do recommend highly.

Bottom line is it's gentle for even the most sensitive skin, but I'm gonna keep looking for a natural alternative that won't burn my skin.

And I'll hope Cetaphil gets with the program and removes the parabens and sulfates, as a lot of other beauty products have followed suit too.

Cetaphil is an amazing product. Our family has been using it for the longest time. It is not sudsy like ordinary soap which makes it very easy to rinse. You will not spend a lot of time just to remove that slippery feeling when using soaps. After you dry with a face towel, you will feel the difference on your skin. Dickinson Witch Hazel Cleansing Astringent - 8 Oz

i somehow stumbled across the name "witch hazel" online and decided to buy it cuz it is so cheap and i red good things about it.

Now this "witch hazel"..is one of these natural remedies you just never hear about..all we see on TV is the same old brand name junk. Glad i came across this simple inexpensive product.

I use it on my face and i use it a lot more than twice a day on some areas. It does not make my skin feel dry at all, actually refreshing. This stuff speeds up the skins healing process so it's awesome for anything swelling or any outbreak of the skin.

Since it's an anti-itch it also makes for the BEST aftershave ever. I use it on my body as well as face.

Note: for me this does not prevent acne,however, it is good for existing acne and redness, without irritating.

As luck would have it I stumbled across witch hazel on a DE shaving forum. I use it after I shave in place of after shave. I get horrible horrible ingrown hairs and razor burn which is why I switched to DE shaving. This stuff works amazing. I now have zero irritation and my face doesn't look like a permanent war zone. It does not sting, has very little odor that does not stick around. I will be buying more in a larger quantity when I run out. If you are a DE shaver this is a necessity!

Bumble & Bumble Hair Powder - White

I tried both the white (too light) and the blondish (too dark). I'm afraid I can't use the white one because it is downright...well...white. On me, it instantly added 40 years. Not a good look.

However, just because the color isn't good on me doesn't mean it's a bad product. It's actually great, which is why I gave it 5 stars, and it works exactly like it says it does. If you have white hair, or VERY pale blonde, this will work for you.

Note: It's rather drying, so if you have dry hair to begin with you'll want to do some compensating.

The product inside the can was great. That is until I couldn't get it out of the can. The propellant quit after only a few uses. I contacted the seller only to find that they wanted to charge me a restocking fee as well as return shipping. By the time I did that it would have cost me the price of a new can of the stuff. This cleanser lasts a really long time, you must only use a dime size maybe even less to get a nice foamy lather. This face wash is great for all skin types . .. . but is really good for oily "that time of the month break outs". I've only had my DDF Revolve 400X for a week, and after just two uses, I'm very impressed. It is effective but not too abrasive. Skinn Full Size Cleansing System

The AM cleanser leaves your skin feeling refreshed and clean. The PM cleanser really gets the dirt and make-up off from the day. Don't be discouraged by the small price, this stuff is wonderful.

I found this wonderful cleanser through a home shopping network and used to order there until I found it here at Amazon.com. I have a very sensitive skin so I can't just use any cleanser otherwise I break out. I am 48 years old and I have used quite a few cleansers that worked but eventually they either clogged my pores or I developed dry spots.

The first time I used this, I was very pleased especially with the Olive and Enzyme Cleanser (PM). This cleanser smells almost fruity, but not really (if that makes sense) and it glides on smoothy. I apply it daily on dry skin and, with circular motion using my fingertips, I apply it throughout my face and neck for one minute before wiping it off gently with a warm damp washcloth. It is more like a lotion so it won't lather like some other cleansers. I find that it really cleans my pores and leaves my skin so soft and so clean, as if all the dirt all the way from deep down has been sucked off my face!

I also tried the Sulfate Free Cleanser (AM), I used it while I showered in the morning. It smells minty fresh and it really is a nice way to start your morning. This is a little different, it lathers a little bit. Much like the Olive and Enzyme Cleanser, I applied it all over my face and neck and it left my skin feeling soft and very clean. The only thing I noticed after using it daily was that it caused some dry patches on my skin, so I tried using it only 2x a week, but I still had some dryness. So, I just don't use this AM cleanser anymore at all. Maybe it is just not made for my skin.

So now I only use Olive and Enzyme Cleanser, every morning and night. I think I'd have a panic attack if I ran out of it and did not have a new tube on hand! It's that good! It works perfectly for me and my sensitive skinn. :)

Blum Naturals Dry and Sensitive Skin Daily Cleansing Towelettes with Chamomile -- 30 Towelettes

I love these Blum natural towelettes. I have extremely sensitive skin with Rosacea & these are the first makeup remover/cleansing wipes that I have been able to use daily without an undesirable reaction. They also remove makeup better than any other towelette I have tried in the past. Highly recommend for problem/sensitive skin.

I love these wipes because they don't irritate my eyes and they are all natural! When I have only a few wipes left in the pack, it isn't as moist as when I first open a brand new pack. I really like the Blum Naturals towelettes. I was looking for something organic and natural. It took a couple of days to get used to the way they smell, but now when I smell them, my body knows it's almost time for bed! I use them every night. They remove all my makeup with no effort. They are nice and big. The only reason why I'm giving the product 4 stars instead of 5 is because the shipping is almost just as much as the product!

Our baby daughter started suffering from either dermatitis or eczema a year ago just a red bumpy rash and unscented Dove was recommended by the pediatrician, pediatric dermatologist, and allergist. Unfortunately, they didn't know the manufacturer had changed the product formula. We really wish they had it would have saved her a year of terrible itching its new formula caused. We didn't know the Dove doctors have been recommended for years was no longer the same product.

A wild goose chase ensued. A change in her diet to Alimentum resulted in dramatic improvement after a milk allergy was diagnosed. However, small raised red patches and intense itching that caused frantic scratching to the point of bleeding soon became major issues; atypical eczema was diagnosed.

Treatment until just a few days ago had been warm daily baths and unscented Dove, along with hydrocortisone 1% on spots and Cetaphil cream all over. Children's Zyrtec did not seem to alleviate the itching, although it did help her sleep. A visit to a dermatologist and a prescription for Calcitrene did not help either. Only a physical barrier footed PJs with both zippers and snaps, kept her from picking at her skin constantly.

Quite by accident I used unscented Dove two weeks ago. I suddenly found myself having intense itching as well. Could it be that my daughter was allergic to Dove too? It did make sense as Dove was used directly on her exposed areas, arms and torso, and she had her most intense and frantic itching episodes after her bath. We discontinued Dove immediately and her intense itching subsided overnight.

What I didn't understand why I was suddenly was allergic to the new bars. After doing some research it turns out that Dove has discontinued the old Dove unscented bar along with the Dove for sensitive skin (the one with sweet almond oil itself an allergen) and combined them into one bar, Dove Unscented for Sensitive Skin. In so doing, it's changed its main surfuctant and other ingredients.

An online search revealed complaints about itchiness and the new Dove. One wbsite site in particular on the treatment of eczema has an enormous amount of information on detergents, soap and their effects on eczema especially the change in Dove soap. It no longer recommends it for eczema. Please see the comments section for more information.

Interestingly, itchiness and redness with the new formulation was brought up by a costumer in Dove's own website and no solution is given other than Customer Service's phone number.

I've also found some mentions of another Dove ingredient, "Sodium tallowate" tallow, sometimes derived from cattle as sometimes causing a reaction in people with milk allergies, causing flare ups in acne and eczema. Whether this too caused an allergic reaction in our daughter, I don't know.

We thought our case was isolated. However, it's possible that the skin problems related to the new Dove may be more widespread. I hope this information helps as this change was done quietly by the manufacturer.

We also found sweet almond oil in the Cetaphil cream she was prescribed an allergen for anyone with a tree nut allergy. We stopped using it later and the remaining red raised patches she had also diappeared. Other changes that were recommended including a change to Tide Free it didn't help my daughter but it healed my red, cracked hands, the result of doing laundry 2-3x a day with All Free.

Granted, individual reactions to products vary but the new ingredients in Dove may be causing allergies rather than helping them. None of the three doctors consulted knew of the formula change in Dove nor realized that the "Dove + cetaphil" combo they were recommending were causing the very symptoms (itching and rash) they were trying to treat. It's possible parents may just assume it's ongoing eczema, just like they did. It may not be.

I started using this instead of the regular formula Dove (and other competitors like Lever) due to a skin irritation. The doctor actually prescribed this soap since it has moisturizers and no irritants. For that, it's certainly the best availableI haven't had a problem since changing to it, and am effectively buying this in bulk now since it appears I need it.

The one major complaint I have about this soap is that apparently one of the things they took out was the binder. Compared even to regular Dove (which isn't particularly known for its durability) this soap has a very short life-span. This is largely due to the fact that when it gets to about a half inch in thickness, it crumbles and disintegratesand this is through regular use, not abuse like dropping it. This results in a lot of wastage, and a bar usually lasts me about 2-3 weeks. The original Dove lasts at least a month per bar, and some cheaper soaps like Lever 2000 can last a good two months. As such, though these sensitive skin bars are great for your skin, they certainly don't come cheap. I wouldn't recommend you use them unless the regular Dove and/or competitors' soaps cause you skin problems.

I have very dry sensitive skin and I check the pH (with pH measuring strips) of any soap I use. Most soaps, even the expensive ones, have pH in the range 8-9.5, which means they are harsh on the skin and they strip off the natural acidic mantle.

This soap has pH 7, which means its at the point of neutrality from the chemical point of view, and it is affordable.

It cleans very well but does not dry the skin out.

It is by far my favorite soap for the whole body and the only one I have been used in the past few years.

I read some complaining about the short life span of these soap bars. Put them in the refrigerator for longer life.

For years I purchased expensive, high end products that claimed to be gentle, calming and non-aggravating for acne. None of them worked as well as I had hoped, and furthermore they often irritated my skin and made my acne worse when used in conjunction with other prescribed acne medications. I have to say that I am totally disappointed in the Dove unscented sensitive skin bar of soap. In the last half year I have bought this soap and found that the soap starts to get a dip in the center of the soap and by the fourth day there is a hole in the middle of the soap. Something has changed in the formula of the soap that you actually see it disintegrating from the center outward till it falls apart. Hate to say that this is a waste of a bar of soap and it is not worth the money one spends on it to last only a few days before falling apart.

Mine came with a pump, but the exfoliant clumps and all I get is a watery-substance when I pump into my hand. The product definitely exfoliates well, that's why it gets 3 stars, but because I have sensitive skin I tend to break out if I use more than two times a week (which is why it doesn't get 5 stars). The exfoliation is definitely "micro" so you're not getting a bunch of big beads drooping down your face, and instead it stays put while you're doing your exfoliation. Overall, as far as exfoliation goes, this does a great, great job, with my face feeling very smooth afterward. Just a word of caution for those with sensitive skin, don't over-do it, and for all users out there, avoid the pump.

I use this product in the evening in the shower. It polishes my skin without scrubbing too hard and cleanses at the same time. Although this scrub does cleanse, it won't take off mascara and is a bit too rough on the delicate eye area. Some people may prefer to use it as their AM cleanser. Although the price seems high, it only takes a quarter-sized dollop to do my face, neck, chest, and shoulders; it's a good value because it goes a LONG way. MDW does have a fragrance, which isn't exactly pleasant or unpleasant, but the smell doesn't linger on the skin.

This kit is less powerful than lactic or glycolic acid (50% strength up to 65%). Definitely not the best option for sensitive skin, it stings after applying 2nd step and leaves skin very red for at least 30 minutes.

The ingredients are great and size are generous but I wouldn't call it "red carpet"...pure lactic acid makes skin more tight and glowy for me.

Also the 3rd step, the mask is better for oily skin, it is clay type a mask. I return it for a refund, which was easy and fast.

I haven't been able to use grocery-store or drug-store brand gels/soaps for decades, as they leave me rashy and itchy. This is a great product for super-sensitive skin. Nice lather, no scent, good cleaning ability, leaves the skin smooth and nice, ready for moisturizing. Two weeks with this, and my skin hasn't objected a bit.

The bottle has a nice dispenser--it's a flip top cap with a small hole for releasing the product. I'd say I use about half a tablespoon on my shower pouf, so this bottle will last me a couple months, I'd think.

The Logona Free Pur deodorant is amazing, too!

With no oils in this product so it can be drying on the hair and skin. But that is not why I bought it; I wanted a hypoallergenic product.

I had problems with contact dermatitis or seborrheic dermatitis on my face, and switching my shampoo to this seemed to help with that. The runoff from other shampoos was really irritating my face.

Nano Cyclic Pink Cleanser, 15-Gram

I started using nano cyclic soap Pink formula 3.5 years ago when a friend told me how smooth her face became after using it. I have been continue buying and using it to wash my face. But the price keeps going up up up..... Amazon price is lower than their official site price. I guess l ought to give thanks for that. Their web says Nano Cyclic Cleanser Pink contains an extra collagen concentration that is ideal for normal skin types:

I dont see the soap doing all of that benefits to my skin though l cant say if it will make hair strong because l never try it on my hair. But my skin does become softer and younger looking. I usually applied on my face, neck and hands. Then l purposely left out my hands and guess what, they looked drier and more wrinkled after a month though l continue using my body lotion religiously. The 15g soap is like those tiny hotel soaps but it lasts me about 2.5 months. As the soap gets smaller, it hardly works into lather no matter how hard or how long you rub it in your wet palms.

Can't live without out. Your skin will look younger-a lot! Don't bother with the silver, stick with the pink, if you 30+

I can't honestly rave about Cyclic, but I do like it. I recently moved to Hawaii, and my skin was very unhappy about the change. It seems to have calmed down with regular use (twice daily, lather up and leave on for six minutes before rinsing), but I still have many more blackheads than I've ever experienced before. I'm not certain if this is due to my skin's reaction to the Cyclic cleanser or if it has to do with the climate and volcanic dust here. In any case, it works better than anything else I've tried at this point, and it's nice to travel with since it's not a liquid. My only real complaint is that the bar reacts to heat, humidity (or any water), and even air. This makes storage something of a nuisance, because ideally one would store it in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. Not exactly a convenient place for a facial cleanser!

This is long reaching, but is so rough that it actually hurts to use it, and I am afraid that the wire is going to rust.

This is the best back scrubber I've run across so far. The bristles feel really good on my back. Not too stiff. It is rather cumbersome. But until I find something better, this one gets my vote.

I have been using this Kiwi Coloreflector Shampoo for many years. I was first introduced to this product at my hair salon. Since using this shampoo, my hair is extremely manageable, shiny, and looks great. It does not dry out the hair....in fact, since I don't like my hair too soft, I use just one drop of conditioner on the very ends. That is all that is necessary for me. When I had run out of it I had tried another brand...which I quickly returned to the store. When you squeeze some out, you get more than you want. I'm finding that its a little watery. It's also very grainy. I know it's suppose to be because its a scrub but you need to rinse your face REALLY when to get all the grainy pieces off. As far as keeping my face clear, I haven't notice it making a big difference. I'm still getting break outs here and there. I don't think I will buy it again. I love their other products though.

I just started using the Yes to Tomatoes gel cleanser. It smells nice (I would have loved for it to smell like tomatoes, but it doesn't). I have combination-oily sensitive skin and most non-oil cleansers are too harsh for me. This one has the acne fighting acid, but doesn't trigger my eczema. I use it at least once sometimes twice a day and still no problems with over-dryness. It goes on feeling nice and thick, but lathers and rinses off without any problem (another problem I've had with harsher soaps and face washes, since most soap residue makes me break out in hives).

The packaging and instructions are quirky and fun, and I'd definitely recommend it to others with combination or oily faces!

I realized that I had several $2.00 off Garnier coupons and the packages of these at Target also have a store coupon attached. Target allows both to be used on the same product, so I got this for $.99 instead of $4.99. This is an excellent product. I was expecting the brush to be hard and stiff and to aggravate my already sensitive skin. But, I was shocked that it gave my face a really deep down scrubbing and it also took off my scaly dry skin from tanning. I bought the light green bottle as well, but only opened this one thus far. I plan on going back for more and giving my Mom one, who is a big Garnier skincare fan. Great job Garnier!

I've never used Garnier products, but it was on sale for $5 at my local cvs so I gave it a shot. I love it!!! It really foams & lathers. The brush bristles are long, flexible, and rubbery. It massages your face and feels nice. But if you want to exfoliate use your fingers! The "microbeads" feel like fine sand and if you rub it into your skin with circular motions you're basically giving yourself microdermabrasion. My skin felt smooth, soft, and clean. I followed the face wash with a product I also hadn't tried before: Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque ($5 at Walgreens). It claims to shrink enlarged pores and it delivered! Noticeable results after only one use. Both products are unbelievable. For only $10 my skin looks better than when I pay $60-90 for a professional facial.
