There are two qualities about this product that stand out. The first is the SIZE. When I received them I immediately tore one open and discovered that it is much larger than wipes I had used before. This is important to me because I use them for an eye condition, but my wife also loves them because it makes it easy to remove makeup. The second feature is they are very MOIST, we never have to rinse afterwards. We even tried it on our dog for his eye boogies and now he looks forward to a good scrubbing!! NutraSonic Face Brush Set

If I am going to spend $100 or more on an item, I do a lot of research and I also ask anyone I know if they have the item so I can try it out. I did that here as well. I should start by saying that meant that I had to buy new brushes since I borrowed the Clarisonic from my mom and the Nutra Sonic from one of my friends and it wouldn't be a good thing to use their face brushes in addition to the machine.

Cost of replacement brushes:

Clarisonic (hereafter referred to as "C") $25 on most sites but this varies with sales

Nutra Sonic (hereafter referred to as "N")$15 on most sites but this varies with sales

Ease of switching out brushes:

C: Easy

N: Not hard, but more difficult than the Clarisonic in comparison

Why you want a sonic cleaner to begin with it: Sonic wave technology has long been proven as far more than a gimmick, though it may sound that way at first. Sonic wavelength technology is made up of tiny vibrations that allow you to loosen dirt you could not otherwise. This is why they are used in professional toothbrushes and in the jewelry cleaner machines your jeweler uses. I own both of those items too and I can tell you there is an ENORMOUS difference from that and simply a vibrating sonic-wannabe of either. For your face this means it cleans your pores 6 times better than you can via simply washing, reducing breakouts but also helping take away loose skin on the surface you can't see which clogs pores and dulls skin and renewing skin reduces wrinkles. Having worked in the cosmetic biz myself, I'm well aware of that truth.

So let's get down to how they worked...

To be fair, I used one for one week on one side of my face, twice per day and the other on the other side of my face twice per day.

Sonic Power:

C 300 rotations per second

N 400 rotations per second

The Nutra Sonic was obviously stronger but I didn't measure these rotations on my own...no way could I count that fast. The manufacturers provided these details, both to me and in their advertised specs. This is both a good and bad thing. First, it felt like the Clarisonic only had vibration in the middle part of the brush, not all over, which didn't make much sense to me, but suffice it to say it was just lighter on the power, Nutra Sonic truly felt like it had more power...however, that also meant there was a bit more splatter. I could use the Clarisonic standing up, facing the mirror, with no splatter. However, I used the Nutra Sonic in the shower and with my face down to the sink since the power of it sometimes splashed water droplets.

C Felt a bit heavier, maybe because it has heavier parts or because it has a built-in timer whereas the Nutra Sonic does not.

C Built in timer so you don't use it on any part of your face longer than a minute

Speeds:

C 1 speed, soft. Manufacturer says it's made for "sensitive skin"

N 4 speeds: sensitive, normal, and body brush

(incidentally, there is a Clarisonic that has more speeds as well but it was, at the time of this review, $200 more than the Nutra Sonic that does the same thing and it still had less sonic power. That's the Clarisonic Pro. I'm not writing about this though, because I didn't try it due to the price and already knowing the power wasn't as good as the Nutra Sonic going in.)

N: 3 brush heads for each speed...if your skin is very sensitive, there is a softer brush, if you want greater exfoliation, use the harder brush at normal speed, or soften feet and elbows in the shower with the body brush on high speed. Incidentally, if I have bad breakouts I do sometimes use the high speed on my face to really exfoliate.

Jitter Mode:

C: Has no Jitter Mode setting in addition to speeds

N: Has a jitter mode setting so you can use exfoliation cleansers and pretty much get a pro exfoliation. I prefer Mary Kay's exfoliation cleanser because they are one of the few that uses the exact same exfoliates as dermatologists use...rather than ground peach pits or apricot pits that actually put tiny tears in your skin. Again, that's just from me being in the biz for a few years that I know that odd fact. Olay has a good one too.

N: Low in comparison, but nothing with decent sonic wavelength tech is cheap.

It should be noted that price varies greatly both on Amazon and the internet. Do compare shipping charges as well. Usually I find everything cheaper on Amazon but in this case, for me, Amazon had a link ad on the Nutra Derm page that linked to an outside website that had the Nutra Sonic less and with free shipping so do explore around as sometimes it's cheaper in one place and sometimes another, or sometimes it's cheaper on one but the seller jacks up the shipping.

Cleansers:

In my opinion, skip the upsell for the cleansers of both models if you have the option and just buy whatever brand you like...they are just average cleaners and not worth the extra mark up for the small bottles.

Bottom Line...Cleaning

C: Did a far better job of cleaning than a regular scrubbing with a wash cloth and cleanser, reduced breakouts and smooth feel

N: I expected to like the Clarisonic better, I'll be honest, because in spite of the fact I knew Nutra Sonic had more power, Clarisonic was pricier. You don't always get what you pay for. Sometimes you simply pay for marketing. The pores on the left side of my face where I used the Nutra Sonic were MORE reduced, and my skin was smoother. I can't say I saw a wonderful reduction in wrinkles on either side but it may also be too soon to measure that claim by both brands. I loved the exfoliation mode on the Nutra Sonic and, in all honesty, the speed difference was VERY important to me. Dermatologists exfoliate for a reason: removing the outer layer of dead skin rejuvenates your skin and prevents clogged pores which lead to acne. The soft pulse of the Clarisonic simply didn't do this as much, although I did like it better than a wash cloth. For results, the Nutra Sonic won for me hands down.

Warranty:

C: 1 year but ONLY if your purchase stems from the Clarisonic website. (But the price was far higher on their website when I looked than most other sellers of it.)

N: 1 year regardless of where you buy it.

Conclusion: If you want to use the sonic cleaner looking into a mirror and never in the shower and you have very sensitive skin that doesn't need a deeper clean, the Clarisonic would make you happy. It does clean well. However, if you don't mind looking down near the sink to prevent some random water drops that Nutra Sonic sometimes slings with the greater vibrations, or you want to use it in the shower, or you want to exfoliate or have normal skin that sometimes needs a greater scrubbing (although you can still go with gentle too), I'd choose the Nutra Sonic. Also if you want to use it on your body, the Nutra Sonic works with the intense clean and body brush whereas you can't do this with the Clarisonic. The Nutra Sonic, however, does not have the built-in timer to tell you when you've been on a part of your face for a minute and should move on but, for me, for the cost savings, I can wing it.

I thanked my Sonic cleanser lenders and still remain VERY happy with the Nutra Sonic. Plus now the right side of my face has caught up with the left and is equally as smooth and clean!

UPDATE: I've been using this daily since my review and all these 7 months later I like it even more...works great, no issues. And my mom now has a Nutrasonic too! Ha! Plus, I have not yet had to buy ANY new brushes...they totally hold up and it has a better warranty than the Clarisonic anyway so should I have an issue...I will report back in and exchange it as well...thus far, my makeup is even better and smoother due to no more dead surface skin. I still like it!

Update: I've had the Nutrasonic for a year now. Still have smooth skin, still works great. If it starts stuttering on you that means it's time to charge it. It says this in the directions. I charge mine about once per week.

This is a great product. I noticed within a few weeks much improvement with my skin. Mainly the even tone and smaller pores. I do love how my skin feels tight and clean after I use it. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star rating is the brushes could be easier to remove and replace. Other than that I recommend it to anyone with or without skin issues.

Well, switching to organic shampoo was not as easy as it seemed. I went to the local co-op and bought an bottle, but it was horrible compared to the high-end salon brands that I was accustomed to. So I decided to test them all: I bought a bottle of EVERY organic shampoo that I could find for sale in March of 2006. And I tried them all. The results of my test were striking: Only ONE shampoo was comparable to the high-end salon brand shampoos that I was accustomed to the "EO Gentle & Nourishing SHampoo Chamomile & Honey."

I've been using it for over a year now, and I'm still really pleased. I've also recommended it to several friends, who also love it. And I recommended it to my local co-op, who now carries it it's a best seller there.

I highly recommend this shampoo.

So before I get into the review let me just explain my shampoo history. I was raised on Pantene but I have tried just about everything you can get at the neighborhood drug store and many "salon" products. I have also bought some "salon" products in Japan when I have been there and I can say that those have been absolutely excellent. In fact, if it were not for the price (think thirty bucks for an eight ounce bottle) I would probably buy the stuff from Japan and import it forever.

Pretty much everything I have tried has seemed to dry out my hair a lot. Now, I understand that the point of Shampoo and conditioner is to strip your hair of the smelly oils your body produces and replace them with something that will smell nice and make your hair look good. However, I have always thought it would be better if you could somehow get rid of excess oil without stripping the hair itself. This is what I loved about the Japanese products I have tried and what I think the EO accomplishes.

Now, let me be clear, this shampoo does not have an appealing smell. If you have been around hippies it smells like something they would use as "natural deodorant". It has a lot of herby action going on with some weird lavender business thrown in. The good news here is that it doesn't seem to cling to your hair. I think this is because it is not trying to replace oils in your hair but rather sort of sloughing off the excess.

I have used this for about a month. My hair feels very healthy, almost like you would expect the opposite of split-ends to feel, and it is reflecting light in a way that it hasn't since I was a kid. While my hair usually gets really dry in the middle of winter, it feels nice even in the driest weather.

This is obviously a product conceived with hippies in mind. It is apparently organic and really simply made. All I know is that it feels really good on my hair and I don't have to use all kinds of conditioning products to get shiny, beautiful hair.

One note on application. I am not sure if I am just weird about how I apply shampoo, but I have always just applied it directly onto my hair and scalp and massaged it into a lather. I found that with this stuff you need to lather it up in your hands before applying it to your hair in order to avoid using a ridiculous amount. If "pre-lathered" I usually only use a dime or quarter sized amount.

Curve for Men is a prime example. It's a very nice citrus-spicy scent and you can buy a good sized bottle without hurting your wallet much. The Hair and Body wash is a nice compliment to the cologne and it doesn't smell like they skimped on the scent at all. Well worth the purchase.

When these arrived, i was excited to try them, as i break out really bad every couple of weeks. I opened the little jar and took one of the pads out & it was SOAKED with the tea tree liquid. There was at least three tablespoons of the liquid just sitting in the bottom, and the pads were clearly bloated with it. So i just wrung it out and plugged my nose (the product is reaaally strong smellinglike rubbing alcohol and salicylic acid) and wiped down the problem areas. The rest of the night, i realized my skin felt kind of tight, not necessarily uncomfortable, just odd. The next morning, i got up, and viola! My problem areas were less of a problem! They were dried out and less red. However, so was the rest of my face. It made the area around my mouth & my forehead flakey, and the skin on my cheeks super dried out. I was happy with the results it showed on my acne and pores, but it's just way too harsh for the winter months.

I'm going to try them again during summer and see if it helps my face during the sweatier months of the year when my face gets oily, because it seems if you had oily skin these would be a blessing!

I'm really peeved that I fell for this scammer. The original desert essence of which I have faithfully been buying their products has a green and brown packaging. This product arrived with a baby blue packaging and they even had the gall to have the desert essence website on their packaging as their own. Basically they are trying to pass off this product as the same. And some folks may think its just been repackaged but that's not the case. On visiting three stores here including whole foods I can assure you it's still green and brown plastic.

Furthermore I ended up looking at the listed ingredients using one of my old jars and the formulation is totally different.

Shame on this company and I hope they get what they deserved.

I did send back my 6 jars and they did refund me. I also called the real desert essence company and let them know what is going on.

I have thick, fine, long, and unfortunately oily hair and have been searching for a good shampoo for years. Bought this on a whim after they stopped making the Head and Shoulders I was using, and I love this stuff! I do find that I have to shampoo twice sometimes, but I just use a cheaper shampoo first and a little bit of this afterwards to get any oil that's left. If you have fine oily hair, buy this shampoo!

I've been using this shampoo for years and would be disappointed if I ever had to do without it. I have slightly oily hair, and regular shampoos leave a residue on my hair that makes it dull and flat. Also I'm allergic to strong perfumes. This shampoo leaves no residue, and doesn't overly dry out my hair. And it has a nice subtle citrus scent that doesn't bother me (and I'm VERY sensitive). It also lathers wonderfully, better than a lot of natural products. I just put a little Whole Foods conditioner on my ends to make it more manageable. Would definitely recommend.

The reason i bought this shampoo is for the pleasing citrus aroma, hard to find nowadays.

Most of the stuff out there is grapefruit or some other disgusting citrus combo, but i want a strong ORANGE citrus scent, and this fits the bill. A little touch of lemon or something else in there as well, i cant place it, but whatever it is i love it.

ZIRH WASH - Mild Face Cleanser

My glaucoma specialist recommended keeping my lids very clean to prevent infection of my blebs. He recommended a special lid wash product at night and baby shampoo in the morning. This works better than the baby shampoo. It is gentle and I can wash up to the eye lashes. You don't want to get it in your eye though. Works great for me.

If you love a product that leaves a soft, supple "residue" after you wash, you will love this stuff. I've been using it for over a year and can't see myself switching. The application feels wonderful, tingly, and refreshing. Sometimes I just let it sit on my face a few moments before washing it off.

Since using this product, I had not had to use any facial moisturizer. I have it, I love the product I have, but I just don't need it! Also, I truly believe my skin looks better than it did when I was using the typical chemical-laden face washes and the necessary follow-up moisturizers on the market. I was very skeptical when my sister called and said that we just had to try Aussie Cleanse and Mend for my older child, whose hair has a tendency to be oily on top but dry at the ends. I was able to find a really great deal on the shampoo and condition and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! My hair has a tendency to have oily roots and damaged, dry ends. No drugstore brands ever really helped me, and I never gave Aussie much of a chance because I didn't like the smell. However, when I finally did, I was amazed. This shampoo/conditioner leaves my hair soft, light, and very smooth, and even if I stop using it for a little while, it'll keep its healthy sheen and moisture for about four days afterward, even while using other, more damaging shampoos. My hair also doesn't seem to get nearly as oily as it did before.

There are two versions of Aussie Cleanse and Mend Conditioner. One of them with white cap (this one), which smells like (some sort of) apple, and another version with purple cap (like the bottle) and smells like artificial grape. Be aware of that. Personally I could not stand the artificial grape smell, so I was really happy they returned to the original formula and sell the apple fragrance version side by side.

Either way, you get the same softness on your hair after you used this conditioner. I have yet come across a conditioner that could make my hair this soft. If you have thinner hair, I wouldn't recommend it because softer hair will give an appearance of less volume. It slightly weighs down your hair too because of the moisture retained in your hair after you used it. Nothing like Dove though..., which moisturizes so much, even a heavy duty hair gel won't make your hair stand tall again....

Probably the best bargain conditioner I've used. If you don't want to use shampoo on your hair everyday, you could use this one on the off day, and still have a refreshing feel.

I first tried this product about a year ago when it came as a sample with some musical instruments I had purchased from an online store. I was very impressed with this stuff as it gives a cool feeling to your skin when you put it on. This is especially true after shaving. Another plus is that it dissolves into you face and doesn't give you that greasy feeling that many other moisturizers can do, even after a long day. I have pretty oily skin, and I can say that after using this stuff daily for 3 weeks, It seems to have brought alot of the oil under control. Im not a dermatologist but it could be that when you wash your face it gets dry and the oilyness comes from your face secretions trying to re-hydrate it. I would say that this product definitely is a good moisturizer. Also this lotion seems to have brought more of the color back in my naturally tan face. Overall I am impressed and I never used much lotion before. Now I use it every time I wash my face or shave.

Skin By Ann Webb Cleanser, Coconut Water, 4 Fluid Ounce

I actually first bought this last year at Whole Foods for $14 glad to find it here for so much less! I am 42 and I use Retin A about 75% of the year. This cleanser is the best most gentle cleanser I have found to use with regular retin a use (I go between all strengths of retin a). It does not irritate or make my skin more red. So many cleansers have so much more crap in them than necessary. My one and only complaint is whatever is scenting this product, be it natural or unnatural, smells a bit cheap. I wish the scent could be more coconut-y and less 'commercial bathroom' scented. It is not a strong smell and the smell does not last or stick to your skin but still, when you are washing your face, it's there. Regardless, fantastic cleanser. Will keep using! And buying on AMAZON!

Husband also says it is good to shave with. I tried it on my legs and he is right, it is. Plus it is 4 oz so you can pack it in a carry-on for travel.

UPDATE 11/6/12 I still love this product, also the melon cleanser. However, as more people discover it, the price has gone up AND it isn't on Amazon PRIME any longer. Between their price & the cost of shipping, I will go ahead and buy it at Whole Foods. I cannot find any of the Ann Webb cleansers on here for a competitive price any more. Boo!

This is my second order of Skin by Ann Webb, and I will continue to use this facial wash. It is very gentle and works beautifully on sensitive skin. I have pretty bad eczema on my face and on days when it is very dry and red, this facial wash quenches my skin's thirst and although the redness doesn't go away, my skin feels refreshed and soothed. Even if you have normal skin, this is such a great product. I'll definitely recommend trying it.
