I suffer from seborea and have lots of skin flaking from sun damage. This peel works very well to reduce flaking by removing dead skin. Since I am bald, I use this all over my head.

I've been using this product for more than 3 months now. I used to use the now discontinued University Medical Anti-redness kit, for my mild psoriasis. It had a sulfur-based wash in it, that I liked and was not too harsh for my skin.

Most benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid washes tend to overdry my skin, and then it becomes red and flaky. This product does the trick for me. I use it 3-4 times per week. It's more than comparable to the Proactiv sulfur mask, but with a twist. When it drys out, it has a slight bluish tint, and that's when you know that you are ready to wash it off.

It is a little bit pricey for the quantity, but I've bought it before at CVS, when it was on special: buy 1, get 1 50% off, so keep an eye out for sales. Also, every box that I've bought so far includes a $1 coupon off your next purchase, so that can help defray the cost as well.

I've tried everything for my faceminus seeing a dermatologist and getting a Rx. I've used Proactive which made my face worse, and every kind of over the counter (OTC) brand out there. The only thing good about Proactive was the sulfur mask and now that Acne Free has an OTC product I've been using this. I've been using this 1x/day everyday and have seen a remarkable difference in my face. My blemishes are vanishing, my face is smoother, and breakouts are nullbonus, my face doesn't dry out or over-oil during the day, it feels balanced. I don't care that my face feels like cement when it dries or the blue coloring or the smell, I care about the results I've been getting. I've been using this consistently for 1 week now and have plans to continue using this. I HIGHLY recommend this product for other acne sufferers.

Like most people, I was told that my acne would be gone by the time I turned 20. I'm almost 50 and still have issues, now coupled with Rosecea. Great. I have tried pretty much every over-the-counter and some not OTC treatments, but this mask is the one thing that actually works for me. I use it 1-2 times per week. If I have some breakouts starting, I will spot use it on those. It isn't magic and doesn't make everything instantly disappear, but it is close. I have oily skin with a few dry patches. This mask will make dry patches feel drier, so if you have very dry skin, it may not be for you. Before this I was using the Proactiv mask. I get better results with this one.

Dove Bar Soap, Sensitive Skin Unscented, 4 Ounce, 16 Count

Our baby daughter started suffering from either dermatitis or eczema a year ago just a red bumpy rash and unscented Dove was recommended by the pediatrician, pediatric dermatologist, and allergist. Unfortunately, they didn't know the manufacturer had changed the product formula. We really wish they had it would have saved her a year of terrible itching its new formula caused.

A change in formula to Alimentum resulted in dramatic improvement after a milk allergy was diagnosed. However, small raised red patches and intense itching that caused frantic scratching to the point of bleeding soon became major issues; we visited a second dermatologist atypical eczema was diagnosed.

Treatment until just a few days ago had been warm daily baths and unscented Dove, along with hydrocortisone 1% on spots and Cetaphil cream all over. Children's Zyrtec did not seem to alleviate the itching, although it did help her sleep. A prescription for Calcitrene did not help either. Only a physical barrier footed PJs with both zippers and snaps, kept her from picking at her skin constantly.

Quite by accident I used unscented Dove two weeks ago. I suddenly found myself having intense itching as well. Could it be that my daughter was allergic to Dove? It did make sense as Dove was used directly on her exposed areas, arms and torso, and she had her most intense and frantic itching episodes after her bath. We discontinued Dove immediately and her intense itching subsided overnight.

What I didn't understand was why I was suddenly was allergic to the new bars. After doing some research it turns out that Dove has discontinued the old Dove unscented bar along with the Dove for sensitive skin (the one with sweet almond oil itself an allergen) and combined them into one bar, Dove Unscented for Sensitive Skin. In so doing, it's changed its main surfuctant and other ingredients in other words, the Dove doctors have been recommended for years is no longer the same product.

An online search revealed complaints about itchiness and the new Dove. One website site in particular on the treatment of eczema has an enormous amount of information on detergents, soap and their effects on eczema especially the change in Dove soap. It no longer recommends it for eczema. Please see the comments section for more information.

Interestingly, itchiness and redness with the new formulation was brought up by a customer in Dove's own website and no solution is given other than Customer Service's phone number.

I've also found some mentions of another Dove ingredient, "Sodium tallowate" tallow, sometimes derived from cattle as sometimes causing a reaction in people with milk allergies, causing flare ups in acne and eczema. Whether this too caused an allergic reaction in our daughter, I don't know.

We thought our case was isolated. However, it's possible that the skin problems related to the new Dove may be more widespread. I hope this information helps as this change was done quietly by the manufacturer.

We also found sweet almond oil in the Cetaphil cream she was prescribed an allergen for anyone with a tree nut allergy. We stopped using it later and the remaining red raised patches she had also diappeared. Other changes that were recommended including a change to Tide Free it didn't help my daughter but it healed my red, cracked hands, the result of doing laundry 2-3x a day with All Free.

Granted, individual reactions to products vary but the new ingredients in Dove may be causing allergies rather than helping them. None of the three doctors consulted knew of the formula change in Dove nor realized that the "Dove + cetaphil" combo they were recommending were causing the very symptoms (itching and rash) they were trying to treat. It's possible parents may just assume it's ongoing eczema, just like they did. It may not be.

I have dermatitis and cannot really use any other soap. Dove leaves my skin soft and hydrated. Great value with "subscribe and save".

This soap is an okay product-used to be better but still ok. We agree with previous reviewer that formula has changed. It's not nearly as hypo allergenic now. Our one family member with very sensitive skin (several suffer from sensitive but mainly VERY dry skin) had to stop using due to a skin reaction with the new soap. Took us a while to figure it out. I'm sure that doesn't make us sound very smart but our family has been using this soap for a long time & it didn't occur to us that they would have/did change the formula so suddenly without letting customers know.

BUT the main point here is $30 for 16 bars is crazy. It's about $15 for 14 bars at Sam's Club. You can even pick it up on sale,usually in a 2 or 4 pack, at the grocery store for about $1-$1.25/bar.

So if you use this very much, pick it up at Sam's club. If you don't have a membership you can usually try it for a day & just pay a 5% surcharge (a whopping 75 cents in this case)-if you use 2-3 packs of this a year the savings will pay for your Sam's club membership. If you don't use this very much and just want to test it out on your skin, pick up a couple bars when its on sale at your local store and you'll still pay less per bar this this "deal".

I would give this product and seller less than 1 star if allowed! This product dried out my skin. It made my face very tight, caused skin to flake and left a red rash. I use the other Olay Pro X products without any problems . I contacted Amazon and the seller for a refund. The seller denied a refund and closed out my request without offering any other solution. To me this is poor customer service and Amazon needs to screen their sellers better especially about their return policies. I love this cleanser. I have sensitive skin and use it twice a day (and live in a sunny place I'm not sure why the other review was worried about irritation). I am a big fan of Eminence products. I was excited to pick up this new exfoliant. Of the company's line of skin polishers and exfoliants I can say that I really like their Yam and Pumpkin Enzyme Peel but their Pear and Poppy Seed Microderm Polisher is not effective enough for me. This product is very similar to Dermalogica's Microfoliant; however, I think the Eminence version is significantly better. While Dermalogica's version of a rice bran and oat exfoliant has won some InStyle best product awards, I truly think this product is superior.

Eminence's Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant is great for sensitive, acne prone or rosacea prone skin that can sometimes be difficult to exfoliate without irritation. I think the level of exfoliation is a great balance for those that cannot tolerate harsh scrubbing or harsh chemical exfoliants. The combination of the gentle rice powder along with the lactic acid makes this a gentle mix of chemical and manual exfoliation for skin. The composition of this product is not like other exfoliants and is a dry powder that you shake out of the top almost like a bottle of baby powder. After shaking out a dime or nickel size amount into your hand, mix the powder with water to form a paste and then apply to your skin in circular motions.

The exfoliant includes:

*Salicylic acid that gently exfoliates and removes impurities to brighten skin and shrink pores

*Rhubarb: a good source of ascorbic acid and vitamins to fight the look of wrinkles

*Lactic Acid: sloughs off dead skin cells to improve texture of skin

*Rice: gentle exfoliant; buffs and smooths skin texture

*Chickpea Flour: tightens pores; absorbs excess oil and helps to buff and smooth skin

*Thermal Mud: contains high amounts of mineral trace elements and sulfur to improve and support the skin

*Oats: deeply cleanse and smoothe

*a booster of antioxidants, vitamins, Coenzyme Q10, and Alpha Lipoic Acid to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve the appearance of skin

On the negative side, the packaging could be better. You have to be extremely careful not to get water in the top of the bottle or the product at the top will form a paste and it will become near impossible to shake any product out. If that happens you have to leave the bottle alone for about a week or so. This will allow the top to dry up completely and you can shake the powder out again. It is frustrating not being able to keep the bottle in or even remotely near my shower due to this issue. On the plus side, because it is just a dry powder it is easy to travel with and doesn't take space in my carry-on liquids allotment.

If you do not have sensitive skin this exfoliant may not be aggressive enough for you and you may be disappointed by it. That said, if you are one (like me) that likes to exfoliate everyday, because this is fairly gentle you can use it everyday without irritation. In contrast, some of the stronger exfoliants that we review on this site can only really be used once a week.

Van Der Hagen Shower+Shave Dual Action Bar Soap for Women 5 oz

This pink & white bar is a gem! Smells delicious! The clean, refreshing, yummy scent of coconut comes to mind (the package does not give a name to the scent). I've used it on a bath pouf and with a boar's bristle (man's) shave lathering brush, and I do prefer the brush. Traditionally, shave soaps were made to work best with a shave lathering brush. It works fine with a pouf, but, with a brush, you just get thicker lather in a higher quantity w/o using a lot of soap. I've gotten better results with this shave soap than with shave gels, creams and foams. There is only one shave cream that I prefer and the name begins with an E has an O in the middle and ends in an S. So, you can see that that particular cream is an extra good quality product. That's the only type of shave cream that can compete with this soap. It's THAT good! Somewhat hard to find. At a brick and mortar store, it can be found at Wally sMart. Try it. You won't be sorry.

Great scent, easy to use and very close shave. Shaving cream agitates my skin, but this bar seems like a fantastic alternative! It is difficult to use without a brush, but I'm sure it's even better with brush application.

Buf-Puf Back Scrub Body Sponge with Reusable Handle (Pack of 4)

I'm not an acne-covered teenager, but, as a 30+ woman, I was tired of occasional breakouts on my face and back.

My doctor recommended this particular product because you can (and should) replace the sponge head periodically, thus reducing bacteria to re-infect oneself and lead to pimples. She told me to use it with an anti-bacterial body wash.

It works just fine as a back scrubber. This would not be appropriate for very sensitive skin as it is an exfoliant type brush--similar to a loofah or those round body scrubbers that always come bundled with body wash gift packs.

When you've tossed the old sponge to replace it, you are left with a stick covered with little pointy barbs. That's what the new sponge will stick to. Changing it isn't hard, but, occasionally, a washcloth or other item near the brush will catch on a barb that doesn't get full covered by your new sponge. This isn't a big issue, but it could snag something. Be careful with that problem, and you should enjoy this brush.

I've had my handle for about 2 years now. It is sturdy. I've been through many, many sponge heads. They are tricky to find at my local grocery and pharmacy, so Amazon availability is really great for me.

...and it has paid off. I'm 59 years old now and still get compliments on my skin. I began using the Buf-Puf facial sponge daily around 1982. After a few months, I took an out of town trip and left the sponge at home. My skin continued to exfoliate on it own without the sponge! That to me was positive poof of the exfoliating properties of this sponge. I've been using it daily since and I don't leave town without it. When I discovered the Buf-Puf body sponge, I began using that, too. I find much younger women listening attentively when I tell them about my simple skin care regimen which consists only of daily Buf-Puf use with regular soap and inexpensive skin lotion from the grocer. You don't need astringents, expensive lotions, chemical exfoliants, or masques. And my great skin is not hereditary (my five younger sisters choose to not use the sponge and don't have my skin). Buf-Puf doesn't get all the credit, though. Healthy eating (plenty of veggies with a moderate amount of meat protein and fat) and not smoking help. But I probably still wouldn't have as great skin at this age without exfoliation.

You can use the rougher side (the color side) of the Buf-Puf bath sponge to keep your elbows and knees silky smooth (it works). I used to wish the Buf-Puf sponges were less expensive and in the early years I tried less expensive store brands. The less expensive sponges are not only difficult to find on a consistent basis, they're not as effective and don't last as long. I now realize that $10 or $12 a month for great skin is not expensive (I use both a facial and a bath sponge for an entire month and switch out to new ones at the beginning of each month). Other skin care regimens would cost more (masques, astringents, chemical exfoliants, etc.). Not only do you get the great skin, you don't have to take extra steps for it (as with masques, astringents, and chemical exfoliants). By the way, I use the Buf-Puf sponges (one facial, one body) INSTEAD OF bath cloths, not in addition to bath cloths.

If you're using a Buf-Puf sponge for the first time, don't scrub hard. Your skin will need a few days or so to get use to the abrasion. And as it does, you'll unconsciously increase the pressure. Your skin may feel a little sensitive at first (a lot if you scrub hard), but it will acclimate.

Also, this sponge is available without the handle. It's easier to use without the handle and I rarely do, and even then only to get to the unreachable part of my back.

Finally, it's never too late to begin exfoliating. So, if you're older and want to improve your skin, it's not too late to begin exfoliating and removing dead skin cells to reveal the smooth new cells underneath.

This product is effective for spot treatment. As a mask, I found it very drying and doesn't really prevent breakouts. I like that it is clay based and natural though.
