I finally found a shampoo that gives my very fine hair body (VO5 Extra Body). It was great for two weeks... then my hair went flat. I tried washing the conditioner out with several regular shampoos without conditioners but they didn't get my hair clean. So I tried my wife's Brocato Peppermint Scrub Purifying Shampoo (look closely at the label).

It is not recommended for daily use, so the cost isn't significant; it takes me six months to use the 10 oz. size because it only takes a marble size ball to clean my short hair; and I mean really, squeaky clean with one application.

If your hair is loaded down with conditioners or anything, this is the stuff to use. It smells nice too.

Love this stuff... use it once every couple of weeks, has a terrific smell and squeaky clean hair and scalp as a result!

Nourish Alpha Hydroxy Face Cream

I was happy at first that this product was bigger than I thought. However, after pushing the pump down about 50 times, trying to get the product out, I took it apart and discovered that the nozzle which is supposed to take in the product was so short it could not reach the cream inside! The product was also thick so I couldn't get any even without the pump. I ended up replacing the pump for a different pump from another product I had. PLEASE CHANGE THIS NOURISH!!! I will not purchase this again as you are asking us to pay for something that we can't even get to!

I am a big Body Shop fan and got this when it was on sale. However, I really only used it once. I have pretty sensitive skin and this was WAY to abrasive for me. Derma e Very Clear Cleansing Scrub

MY SKIN/LIFESTYLE BACKGROUND

I'm a 31 yr old woman who has always battled skin problems. I have an overproduction of "sebum" aka oil on my face, neck, back, torso and my behind. Since I moved to sunny, hot, humid FL in 2003, it has gotten a lot worse. Even more so in the summer heat & my work out routine; continuesly have problems everywhere else, but my face. I use "Palladio rice paper oil blotters" thrtry to control the oil on my face, throughout the day, which has really helped limit the larger, red, painful breakouts. But I still get the "sebum" pimples, which are small, skin colored, painless bumps on my face. Though IF/WHEN bacteria gets in there they become red & inflammed & look like a typically uncomfortable pimple. Out of sheer frustration I started reading up on what the differences are b/w "sebum", "sebatious pimples", "hormonal pimples" & understanding the differences. Finally got things more manageable now after trying different topical soaps, bars, washing laundry w/ fragrance free detergent, changing my bedding weekly (pillow classes nightly), vitamins, went to see 3 different highly raved about dermatologists, who all recommended oral antibiotics (which I don't want to take long term)

Found "Derma E" product line at Whole Foods & thought I'd give it a try based on my experiences from the various products Ive already used (detailed below for those interested). I bought the following items for BODY (not face): the body wash, scrub & skinbiotics creme (after showering) & cannot say enough positive things! Cost is very reasonable, works better than any other RX I got from dermatologists, softens skin & calms it. I also like that it's very natural; Tea Tree Oil has antibacterial & anti fungal properties, safe enough to put on bikini area after shaving to help w/ razor bumps.

Prescriptions (RX) I have been using or tried

1. RX body & face washes; don't remember the names, tried a couple. Made no difference & was hard to get out of bottle, didn't lather, application was tricky. Also stains

RX topical creams for face (both cause high light sensitivity. Was told by doctor to wear SPF 45 or higher daily)

Both used @ night ONLY

1. RETIN-A Micro Gel 0.1%: still use this once a week, mostly for anti aging benefits. Will make your skin peel

2. TAZORAC GEL 0.05%. Still use, once a week. Skin looks smoother next day

1. DUAC TOPICAL GEL: for spot treatment on acne/blemishes: I didn't notice much of a change, if at all. Didn't use it too long. Doesn't seem strong enough. can be used day/night

2. EPIQUIN MICRO (hydro quinine USP 4%) Skin Lighting Cream: This works, but you have to apply it morning & night. Small amount goes a long way. You have to blend it in really well so it doesnt make brown patch seem darker, when your in public, since color of cream is DARK brown. Washes off. I have about a quarter size light brown patch on my forehead that's splotchy. And also a brown spot/sun spot above my top lip. Looks like a mustache! Will take about a week to fade out, but as soon as the summer months arrive, it is a constant battle.

FACIAL SPF

"ELTA MD UV Clear SPF 46": recommened by my dermatologist. Used for skin types prone to acne, very light. As far as I can tell it is doing a great job. Been using it for about 6 months, daily. Just got my 2nd bottle. Lasts awhile & is inexpensive. Highly recommend. Though I'm thinking I need a deep facial more often, as it could b contributing to the excess sebum on my face?

I'm very fond of derma e products and swear by their derma e Peptides Plus Double-Action Wrinkle Reverse Crème, 2 oz (56 g) and derma e Microdermabrasion Scrub, 2 oz (56 g). The dermabrasion scrub is very effective but should not be used more than once a week, so I've been looking for a good everyday scrub. I prefer one with salicylic acid, which is not just for acne treatment but is also good for aging skin like mine, to slough off the top layer of skin cells and reveal a softer look.

This Very Clear Scrub not only contains salicylic acid (willow bark) but also has loads of tea tree oil, another product I love. Some people object to the smell of tea tree oil but I've been using it for years and have actually grown fond of its odor. (Can't say the same for my cat, who avoids me like the plague if I use the oil full strength.) However, for this scrub to be a perfect product I would like it to have more scrubbing particles. But since it is my scrub to use on days I'm resting my skin from the microdermabrasion scrub, perhaps I should be happy it's a bit more gentle than I like scrubs to be. One can probably get too much of a good thing, right?

My skin is not sensitive so I've had no adverse reactions to any of these products I use and I'm happy with the way my skin looks and feels.

I'm 32 and pregnant for the first time. Around the 3rd month, I started to get acne breakouts the large, painful, deep sort of pimples. I tried using tea tree oil alone, which helped with existing pimples, and a simple tea tree face wash, but that didn't seem to help prevent breakouts very much. Due to pregnancy, I avoid salicylic acid, which rules out most standard over the counter acne cleansers. I tried a trial of Derma e Very Clear Problem Skin cleanser for about a week and my acne really cleared up. When the trial amount I had was used up, my acne came right back. So I went out and purchased the scrub cleanser and have been very happy with it. It has reduced my acne significantly, and I have not had a single large, deep, painful pimple since I've been using it. At this rate, I will continue to use this product until perhaps my skin changes yet again! I love that this is very reasonably priced as well.

A couple of other notes: I had been told that for acne washes to work well, it is important to leave them on the face for about 2 minutes. So I massage it on my face gently for about 1 minute and leave it sit for another minute before rinsing it off. Also, immediately after rinsing, there is a bit of an oily film left on the skin. I believe this is probably the oils in the cleanser and it took a little getting used to. However, after about 5 or 10 minutes, the oil absorbs into the skin and my face feels very clean and smooth. Since it is probably these oils that keep the acne at bay and condition the skin, I figure this is a good thing. I find my skin doesn't feel oily or dry with this cleanser, and I'm prone to both in combination. Finally, I think it also helps to calm skin and reduce redness. Great product! I definitely recommend it!

I bought this because of the great reviews online and in my magazines. It works okay but not as imagined, I had to press hard to actually see any results at all. My face was left clean but red from pressing to see results. Not sure if this is for people with severe pore clogging. Over all, keeping the product but not worth the price. It did come with some extra tester size mask facials which I did love and ended up purchasing. Toner was terrible, slimy and left my face very greasy and shiny.

My only problem with it is that after a few weeks of using it, it's started to stall and doesn't work as well as in the beginning. After a solid year of trial and error I finally have a solution for my acne. I've been going to the dermatologist for the past 14 months and by now you would have thought I'd be 100% acne free. This is one of the only beauty products I've ever found that ACTUALLY DOES WHAT IT CLAIMS TO DO. It removes oil and blackheads like nothing else, and HOLY COW, IT ACTUALLY DOES SHRINK HUGE PORES!

I am "blessed" with really large pores -enormous might be a better word, and I've always felt self-conscious about them. Whenever I'm going to go out, though, I apply the mint julep masque and give it plenty of time to thoroughly dry. I've been using it regularly for about a year and I am still thrilled to see how tight it makes my pores, and how smooth it makes my skin appear. Of course the effect is not permanent -I've found that it lasts for about six to eight hours. I can extend the shrunken-pore look by a few hours by frequently blotting my face with blotting papers.

I just tried this Mint Julep Masque for the first time.

It stung just the slightest bit going on, but that was actually reassuring to me, in that I felt that there must be something to the product :)

The scent was refreshing. The color is a palish green, and the texture is like a very thick cream or paste.

The packaging said to "apply generously" and then wait 15 minutes. I applied an opaque layer over my face, but it took at least 30 minutes before it was really dry.

When I washed the masque off, the pores on my nose were practically gone. Which was amazing! I was very pleased with this product for that reason alone. Immediate visible improvement.

update: I'll probably get 9-10 applications from one tube. It's more than I thought! Also, I've been using almost every day, and the improvement in my complexion is very noticeable! It's not just my pores. My entire face is evened out and brighter. Amazing that an inexpensive product can do this! I generally use high end products. But this is a keeper despite its low price.

I am 21 and male and never have been a fan of acne "curing" products, facial scrubs, etc... Additionally, there was no way that I was going to use a mask... I always thought it was a girl thing. Well, I was wrong. Recently my girlfriend had me try a mask that came with proactive and it seemed do help with my pimples a little bit. So, out of curiosity one day I picked up this Mint Julep mask because it has mostly natural products rather than all the drying agents most acne products use like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. I also used a product called Principal Secret: blemish buster solution which contains sulfur which is excellent at getting rid of zits. Unfortunately this spot treatment of sulfur is almost 30 dollars for a .5oz bottle. To my surprise, the mint julep mask contains sulfur and can be used as a spot treatment as well. I use the mask once a week, and wash my face once everyday with St. Ives apricot scrub (without salicylic acid) and have seen amazing results. I have had really great results with this mask and my zits have disappeared completely. Every once and a while I will have one start to pop up, but I use the apricot scrub to open the pores then follow with a dab of this (leave on overnight) and do my weekly one application per week routine and the result is great. My girlfriend no longer gives me a hard time about zits, and I am more confident because I have a clean professional looking face. I highly recommend this product.

This is, by far, the best product of this type that I've ever used (and I have used quite a few over the years.) The heads are easy to attach, and stay attached until I'm ready to switch to another one. The unit itself is lightweight and easy to hold and operate. I've been using it in the shower to encourage the sloughing-off of dead winter skin cells, and it has really helped with my dry skin. I'm going to buy another one so I don't have to move it around between rooms all the time, so I can also use it with face and/or foot and/or body creams at night. Its low price is a super-duper great extra benefit of this great product! I highly recommend it.

I recently ordered vicco turmeric cream after reading all the great reviews. I purchased it in hopes that it would help with some dark spots i had on my face and help with the dry areas. I can say that this cream is a great moisturizer and my skin feels better than ever. However i have yet to see a difference with my darks spots, but hey you cant have everything.
