This formula is great for my sensitive skin it's caused hardly any irritation, and I am slowly but surely starting to see the color and texture of my skin getting more evened-out. I am a big fan of this product line because they actually tell you how much retinol is in each formulation, and because it doesn't contain any extra fragrances or other trendy-gimmicky ingredients that might cause irritation on their own. However, if you do not have super-sensitive skin and can endure a couple of days of mild irritation, I think you could probably save the cost of a tube of this and skip directly to the 2x formulation.

I am 24 and I am starting to see small signs of age due to my excessive tanning over the years. I had some small wrinkles and discoloration that bothered me. I starting using Afirm 1x because of the recommendation to start with the lowest dose of retinol; this was about two weeks ago and I am extremely pleased. My skin tone is more even than I've ever seen it, my fine lines have almost disappeared completely and my acne is in check (for once!). I have been staying out of the sun, as directed, and will continue to do so. I recommend this product to anyone looking to start an anti-aging treatment. Mini-Story:

I was on a pill form of birth-control + I was sad + stressed.. = that ish..effed me up hard!!!! (plus i noticed lactose products were causing my skin to break out too) soooooooooooo u can only IMAGINE how my face looked.

Lets just say my skin got cray-ziiieeeeeeee! If you want pics, email me. It was nuts.

I finally got off the pill, dealt with my stress, put all the sadness to the side, reduced lactose intake and ...my skin started clearing up. But then i was left with all these red/brown spots, and scars..and bunch of bull from my acne.

I tried this cream...and till today I'm still seeing how its been helping my skin. Its not an over night thing, you gotta use this product for a least six months to see a COMPLETE turn over. Warning: my skin did purge. so expect that. Its just pushing everything that's deep within, OUT. So ya...and my skin still going through that...a lil bit more to go and I'll be good :)

Stay hopeful! This crap does end..and it will faster if you calm down, relax, drink water, get more intake of vitamin A, C + H20 and get some sun. Let your skin breath a little. Don't be ashamed of your skin....your not helping its self-esteem hahaha. (for real..)

I'm gonna move up to 2x. Cuz i'm almost done with my bottle, I'm sure I'll get even better results.

Johnson & Johnson Johnsons Clean & Clear Persa-Gel

This product is great and is highly effective. I have worked in pharmacy for 3 years and have seen people spend a lot of money on prescription acne treatments that basically do the same thing but only cost more, especially if you dont have insurance. This strength of Benzoyl Peroxide used to be RX only, but now is over the counter. It is rather strong and I do suggest that you follow the instructions on the package, especially if you have sensitive skin, to "ease into it", even if you are tempted to put it on 2-3 times a day at the very beginning. It may cause your skin to become very dry and flaky, somewhat ruining the benefits. Overtime though, many people's skin gets used to it and then you can increase the application as neeed.

As other people have mentioned this product does say that it is a gel, but in fact is a white cream and does leave some residue on the skin. The good news is that Clean & Clear has just come out with the same product as this in a clear gel!! I saw it the other day at a Walgreens!

One thing I do have to say though, is that someone previous to me, mentioned that this product is the same as the RX product ClidaGel, which is not true. ClindaGel contain benzoyl Peroxide, but it alos contains clindamycin which is another acne fighting engredient. I just thought that I should mention that in case anyone reading this uses ClindaGel.

Overall, this is definately a great product!!!

If you need to get rid of a zit fast, then this is the best out there, in my experience.

I put this on any zit (or blackhead trying to become a zit) that I spy before bed, and it knocks that sucker out. It does make my skin peel a tad, and it will probably do the same to you, so be careful not to overuse. Also, make sure you use a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer as well if your skin is really sensitive.

EDIT: Something else that's great: This product caused old acne scars on my chin to fade very quickly. Acne scars are the worst because even if the zit goes away it looks like you still have it! So this product is great for that as well.

SECOND EDIT: I wrote this review several years ago. I'm now 29 and this product doesn't work the same for me as it used to. So your experience with it may vary depending on how old you are. When I was younger, it was the best! Now that I'm older, I find products with tea tree oil work better for me. Also: beware, this product will bleach any fabric it comes in contact with.

This product works great. I've been using benzoyl peroxide based over the counter acne treatments for at least 30 years and I'm ordering some more right now. But there is a caution that I should remember, but I recently forgot. Benzoyl peroxide is a bleach (they even use it in Asia to bleach flour, just check the label on your Ramen package). It can bleach literally anything. Recently I ruined a new set of expensive sheets and pillow cases, and left a bleached spot on my new comforter. So now I bought a nice set of white sheets and am trying to find a more color fast duvet cover.

I've also figured out what the small white spots in the carpet are. I've bleached out places in the carpet where I figure the residual on my fingers touched it. (I tend to put the benzoyl on as a final thing after the evening shower while at the bath room sink and in the past I generally haven't washed off the residual on my fingers.) I've determined I was picking something off the carpet or I sat down, using my hand to brace me. Poly/cotton blends seem to be more resistant to benzoyl peroxide than 100% cotton. Although completely man made blends in the carpet have been bleached. So I'm not sure there is a hard and fast rule.

This would be good for parents to know and to enforce a 'hand washing' rule after use. Or just keep in mind when you find that really nice set of colorful sheets at Overstock.

I tried numerous products that were for sensative skin or acne skin. Nothing really worked that well. Nothing until now. Here is my routine and I hope you try it if you have found nothing else that works for back acne.

#1 Wash your skin in mild shower water. Hot water seems to make the oily sebum in your pores more clogging. That is just my opinion.

#2 Get a get body wash loofah.

#3 Get Eucerin Gentle Body Wash and clean your skin. This Body wash contains no acne causing ingredients. Also, It does not try out your skin. I know some of you with acne and oily skin have the feeling that your skin is oily then after a shower with acne body washes you feel like you have dry skin.

#4 Use Johnson & Johnson PersaGel with Benzoyl Peroxide after you get done with your shower. Benzoyl Peroxide sloths off any remaining dead skin cells and opens up your pores. This in turn makes your skin clear in the long run. Believe you me, the results I have found using the above routine has given me enough confidence to walk around with no shirt on in a locker room and not feel "dirty" for the first time since I was 15.

One last note. I have found that if you mix the gel with a little bit of water or even apply the gel straight to your skin out of the shower it works even better. The water dilutes the gel so it won't burn at all. Sometimes with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Max strength it can burn skin. Again, use it on wet skin with a diluted PersaGel and you will be better off because the Gel works just as good and then will not burn at all.

Kinerase makes great products. And this one is no different. However, it is pricey. So, if you're happy with another cleanser, I wouldn't urge you to change.

I have super-sensitive skin that breaks out constantly, and it's a never-ending battle to keep things in check (both the eczema and the zits). Kinerase products help oodles with the skin tone, texture, blotchiness, redness. Some anti-aging properties, and my sensitive skin doesn't react. Which is why I bought this. It gets my hair a little cleaner than scrubbing up with conditioner alone, which is exactly what I'm looking for, but there is an adjustment period. I don't have any trouble with the packaging like a previous reviewer mentions, however, the smell is very perfumey. It doesn't follow you all day, but in the shower, it's strong and overpowering, and it bothers me quite a lot. I'll finish out this bottle, but I probably won't buy it again.

This soap is great. I use it in liquid form and in bar form. It contains no sodium laurel/laureth sulfate, which is literally toxic to my skin. I used to have really bad eczema on my hands, and the thing that helped most was switching to Dr. Bronner's soap.

This soap lathers incredibly well, and I love the smell. The only bad thing I can say about it is that it stings like crazy if you get it in your eye(s) or open wounds (even cuts from shaving). But not too many soaps I know of are eye-friendly.

Regarding the scent: The last time I purchased this soap, I was sent bars that had essentially no scent at all to them. I wrote to the manufacturer, and they informed me that their soaps have a 3-year shelf life, and that the scent dissipates over time. They also told me how to interpret the 4-digit date code imprinted on each bar of soap: The first number indicates the year (i.e. 7=2007) and the next three numbers indicate the day of the year out of 365. For example, 8001 would be January 1, 2008 and 7365 would be December 31, 2007. My date code was 5257, meaning that when I ordered in late 2011, I was sent soap made in mid-2005. No wonder it had no scent.

You can buy Dr. Bronner's soap at Farget [sic] but you'll pay more, and the scent selection is very limited.

This soap is great for my skin and has cleared up greatly, makes a lot of soap with the hard water that I ihave, smellls great!

I like how Dove Beauty Moisture Foaming Facial Cleanser feels on my skin. It's refreshing and gentle, my eyes never sting from accidental exposure. My skin doesn't feel dry afterwards. I've been using this for years and it's wonderful.

I tried this cleanser when it was on sale and I had a coupon. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is, I figured I'd try it if it was cheap enough. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprized and would buy this again even if it wasnt on sale and I didnt have a coupon.

This is a very light, foamy cream that works well with or without a wash cloth. It cleans very well, is light feeling, leaves my skin feeling soft and even takes off waterproof mascara.

I have my son using this also and he has sensitive skin and as a teen an acne issue. This doesnt bother his skin and had been a good cleanser even for acne. My son uses a perscription acne cream so I didnt want a specific cleaner for acne as they contain active ingredients on their own. This has been a very good choice for us both.

I have tried other cleansers in the past, many that cost much more and I can't remember the last time I was this pleased. I will continue to use it

Village Naturals 28 fl oz Wild Orchid Foaming Milk Bath

I love the Village Naturals baths. I hadn't used the Wild Orchid fragrance before; it's lovely! The fragrance lingers on my skin and I love that. I usually take showers and only rarely have time for a leisurely bath, so I pour some on my washcloth and it leaves my skin clean and sweet-smelling.

Lucky stopped stocking Clearly Natural so I came here when they ran out. I admired the soap's ability to clean well without cheap fragrance or itchy skin. Now I know why the store dropped the product line The new formula is no good. The water turns syrupy but it beads up and drips off your skin without cleaning anything. I recently bought a few bars of this soap on Amazon since my local Safeway stopped stocking it. I have noticed a change in the formula over the years--the old version, circa 2009 or so, was much more fragile and prone to crumbling. It also smelled sweeter (the glycerine scent).

I'd definitely recommend it to someone who is looking for a gentle, unscented soap, as it compares favorably to other soaps I've used in that regard, but I haven't tried other brands of glycerine soap, so I can't make a comparison there.

Avene Pediatril Cleansing Foam, 250ml

This was recommended by my paediatrician. It is extra mild for the baby. the foam soap is very thin so may wan to use this for the hair and something else for the body.
