Artra Deep Cleansing Oatmeal Soap

I have been using this product on my face for nearly 2 decades. It has softened my skin and gives my face a great glow, in addition to tightening my skin. The only negative I have is the price. This soap used to cost just over $1, back in the 90s. Now, that is clearly not the case and it is all but impossible to find. That's inflation at its finest.

I decided to try this product since the reviews were so good for it. After a month of use and using up the bottle ...unfortunately it didn't really do much for my acne however I did feel like my face was very clean after using it.It does dry up my face so a moisturizer is recommended. It didn't really do what it claim for my skin but everyone's skin type is different so you really wouldn't know what works for you till you try it.

Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash, 5 Ounce (Pack of 2)

I am obsessed with having a clean face before bed and again in the morning before I apply fresh makeup so I am always happy to try new facial cleansers. I had never before heard of the Simple SkinCare line but dealing with the skin condition Rosacea for years it is imperative that I use products geared toward sensitive skin. This 5 oz bottle is the standard "upside down" storing squeeze bottle most facial cleansing manufacturers have adopted.

The front of the bottle states there are 2 vitamins, 1 skin loving nutrient, and 0 perfumes or dyes. Reading the ingredient list, I am not sure which is which. Here are the ingredients in the order they are listed:

Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Decyl Glucoside, Cocomidopropyl Betaine, PEG-55 Propylene Glycol Oleate, Propylene Glycol, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Bisabolol, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Oil, Glycol Distearate, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Polyquaternium-39, Laureth-10, Cocomide MEA, Sodium Chloride, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Disodium EDTA, Dipropylene Glycol, Methylparaben.

Wow. So much for being "simple". Sounds like an entire science lab is in this product. I had never heard of Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil so I looked it up. It is a common ingredient in "natural" products as it is derived from the Anthemis Nobilis flower (in the Chamomile family so take heed if you are allergic to Chamomile). The Pelargonium Graveolens Oil is what is used to make geranium oil and has a rose scent. That might be all nice and natural sounding but I can't get past the second ingredient being Sodium Laureth Sulfate. This and its cousin Sodium Lauryl Sulfate are BAD for your skin. Over the past year I have stopped using any products that contain them. Please do a Google search for them and you will see what I am talking about. Now, stepping down from my soapbox I will simply tell you how the product worked.

It is a pearly white color and has a nice smooth texture that comes out of the bottle easily. I applied it directly to my face with my hands as directed. It cleaned well (removing all traces of makeup) and had a nice pleasant subtle Rose scent. It rinsed off fairly easy but not as well as I would have liked. I noticed the next morning after washing my face again with Simple that my face was a bit itchy. I am not sure if there is something in the product's many ingredients that I am allergic to or if the cleanser combined with my moisturizer was the problem. So, I am going to experiment again with only putting my moisturizer on one side of my face after cleansing.

I guess if you are not concerned about ingredients like SLES (Sodium Laureth) and SLS (Sodium Lauryl) then it is a product worth trying. I won't recommend it however unless they reformulate and remove the Sodium Laureth Sulfate.

EDIT 12/24/11: I tested the cleanser regarding the itching issue and it seems that there is something in it that is not combining well with the ingredients in my moisturizer (Olay brand). I haven't encountered that problem with other facial cleansers and my moisturizer.

While I didn't toally dislike this facial wash, I wasn't overly enthused about it either.

It is a typical, basic face cleanser. Creamy, lathers well and rinses well. It has a very light scent. I have to be picky with what I use on my face as my skin doesn't like alot of products, but this one caused no irritations.

As for the "moisturizing" claim, I don't feel that this product was moisturizing at all. During the winter I get dry spots/patches on my face. After using this cleanser for several weeks, I saw no difference in those dry areas. The cleanser did not add any moisturization. Honestly though, that is ok because I use a moisturizer anyway and I do not rely on a cleanser to add moisture, BUT if it claims to do something, you should see at least some sort of proof of those claims. I do use other cleansers particularly in the winter which do better at keeping my skin moisturized and minimizing the dry spots and redness.

I didn't notice any other spectacular or amazing effects.. no glowing skin, no diminished wrinkles or anything else. No decrease in the seasonal redness or dry patches. Again, I wasn't expecting those things either, but just pointing out the fact that this is your regular everyday cleanser, with no added benefits.

I wouldn't necessarily advise against buying this cleanser, but I also would not specifically recommend it. It is ok for the price, but there are others in the price range for sensitive skin which have better results.

Some reviewers question the list of ingredients, but most facial washes have a long list of unpronounceable ingredients. Just because they sound weird, doesn't make them bad. So unless you're a chemist or a dermatologist, don't assume that it's bad.

At least one reviewer gave the product bad marks because you can't put it around your eyes. Lots of facial soaps/cremes make similar warnings. That doesn't make this a lousy product. It's not called, "Eye cleaner" or "Eye moisturizer." It's for the face. While the eyes are part of the face, it's a special part that is super sensitive, which is why there are special products just for that.

Overall, this product is quite good and delicate. Is it the best thing ever? No, but I'm happy with it and probably most people would be too.

I am a forty-eight-year-old man who was born with raunchy skin. My complexion is best described as oily, especially my forehead. Keeping my face free of acne was a daily struggle until I received the Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System (Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System) which taught me the importance of exfoliation. The rotating brush gently deep cleans my skin while removing dead cells as evidenced by the black grime found in its bristles; I've had to replace the brush since faithfully using it every day for the past year. I lather my face with the Olay Professional Pro-X Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser (Olay Professional Pro-X Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser, 6 Ounce) prior to using the cleanser's rotating brush.

I dare say that I experienced miraculous results using the Olay products. After a few months of continual usage, my skin became remarkably healthier and more manageable. There were fewer pimples, especially on my nose. (When I did get a pimple, it seemed to vanish sooner than normal.) My skin was smoother, more vibrant and more toned. My self-confidence and self-esteem increased as my acne problems decreased. Let's face it, men also want healthier skin. Pimples hurt, physically, emotionally and financially; research has shown that if two applicants of equal qualification interview for the same job, the more attractive one will get it.

With that said, I was hesitant about trying the Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash. I didn't want to alter a cleansing regiment that had been proven successful. However, I believe that beauty products are like medicines. Sometimes our bodies become immune to them and they no longer work as effectively. It is good to try a new product. When I was bodybuilding, I had to change my weight lifting routines in order for my muscles to continue growing. Therefore, I decided to try the Simple Wash. If I experienced difficulties, I would gladly run back to the Olay products.

I quit using my Neutrogena Transparent Facial Bar, Acne-Prone Skin Formula, (Neutrogena Transparent Facial Bars, Acne-Prone Skin Formula, 3.5 Ounce (Pack of 2)) and I continued using the Olay Cleansing System. However, I substituted the Simple Wash for the Olay Cleanser. Ounce per ounce, the Simple Wash is half the price of the Olay Cleanser. Therefore, it is definitely more economical. Also, the Simple Wash can be easily ordered through Amazon if not readily available in department stores. A product that is highly popular in England, the Simple Wash has just recently been introduced into the United States.

I have posted some photographs of the Simple Wash on this web site. It arrived in a five-ounce tube without a box or any paperwork. Instructions and all ingredients are printed on the back of the tube, which, for safety reasons, had a cap that was sealed with plastic. The ingredients are too many to list here; however, many of them are also used in the Olay Cleanser. This led me to believe that the Simple Wash also exfoliates the skin.

I have faithfully used the Simple Wash for ONE MONTH. I normally use it to wash my face at least twice a day, in the morning while preparing to go to work and at night before retiring to bed. I also use it before attending a social event. I have not experienced any allergic reactions such as rashes, blisters, hives, etc. Basically, the Simple Wash is fragrance free. It does not have an overwhelming flowery fragrance that some people might find offensive. However, if I raise a small dab of it to my right nostril, I do smell a slight odor. My Olay Cleanser smells similar and it is also advertised as fragrance free.

A little does go a long way. I only use a small pearl-drop of the Simple Wash on my hands before rubbing it on my face. The amount of lather produced will depend upon the amount of Simple Wash used. (The five-ounce tube should last me at least two to three months.) For the first two weeks, my skin was slightly dry and taut. I had to rub into my face a small amount of Suave Body Lotion, Vitamin E, (Suave Body Lotion, Vitamin E, 32-Ounce (Pack of 2)) in order to give it some moisture. However, eventually my skin must have grown accustomed to the Simple Wash and became noticeably smoother, softer and refreshed. Despite this winter's strange up-and-down temperatures in Chesapeake, VA, my complexion, thanks to the Simple Wash, is looking quite good. I don't have any red, dry patches around the corners of my nose or mouth.

If you are a man or woman who is searching for an economical facial cleanser that performs well at exfoliating skin, then I highly recommend you try the Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash. It is less than half the price of the Olay Professional Pro-X Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser and works just as well, if not better. I am not criticizing Olay products in any way. I've used the Olay Body Moisturizing Bath Soap (Olay body moisturizing bar soap for sensitive and hypo allergenic skin 4.25 oz, 6 ea) nearly all of my life and will continue to do so. However, as I wrote earlier, it is sometimes good to vary one's beauty regiment because, like a workout regiment, it can grow stale. Your skin, muscles, etc., will not respond as well with the same daily routine used year after year.

i bought this product after having success with other simple products. i have normal but very sensitive skin but i am not acne prone, but when a product is too harsh my face will develop a very irritated itchy rash. usally because of this i approch skincare items with caution but because simple clams to be "the simple skin experts" i used this all over my face.

first i noticed a bit of a rash around my eyes thinking it was my makeup i rewashed my face, within a few hours my entire face was was stingy and itchy by the morning one of my eyelids was swollen and my entire face was covered in white bumps

Been using the Buf Puf for apprx. 1 yr now and am 100% satisfied with results thus far.

I am a 26 yo female that has been dealing with acne since about age 11. I had oily-senstive-acne prone skin that scarred easily and left dark spots. I tried countless products (that includes benzoyl peroxide,Proactiv and Accutane). And nothing consistently worked.

Now...I use the BufPuf 2xs/day, morning and night with my fav facial cleanser(Purpose), followed by toner. That's it! And my skin is left soft, moisturized, acne and blemish free, and glowing. I get so many compliments and have got others hooked too. Mom uses it for even skin tone and wrinkle reduction. I would say it took about 6 months to completely rid the acne and dark spots/scars just because my skin was so terrible.

Only reason not giving 5 stars: wish they were easier to find in local stores/gets costly as u will need to replace every 1-2 mos. depending on use/initially chaffed skin but the was my fault for scrubbing to hard.

But the Pros definitely outweigh the Cons. Hope this helps!

We've used this soap for years, my hubby and I, and our little one from nearly birth (3 now). It's 86% olive oil and it's fragrance free like we prefer, but there are several other options with fragrances and various smells if that's your thing. It keeps your skin very supersoft, great for someone who likes to shower daily. Since it is so moisturizing, it's great to shave with too, just lather it on a little thicker! As I've mentioned in other reviews, I was on a quest to only buy ethical beauty products. And olive oil, if you didn't know, is the single best thing you can put on your skin to keep it young-looking. So, I bought an olive oil soap. I always feel very clean after using it, it's vegan, and it's pretty cheap. It also lasts much longer than other vegan soaps I've tried--the bar is pretty hefty. Also, it lathers really well. I don't have sensitive skin, so I can't speak to whether it is safe to use on sensitive skin--I just always buy fragrance-free everything because it annoys me to have 12 different scents on me from all the products I use.

I rarely review anything, but nine months ago someone I trust recommended the Jane Iredale Magic Mitt. At the time it seemed too expensive to me. I am so kicking myself now. I have been using the magic mitt for over a month and I want to tell every woman I know to run out and buy one. I have average skin with hormonal breakouts. For the last few years I've been experimenting with gentler products, a wonderful oil moisturizer at night, baking soda to exfoliate, etc. But plain water and the magic mitt are almost all my face needs now. My skin isn't dried out after I wash my face and it's not oily in the morning. Also even hormonal acne seems to have a much shorter life span. Just using the magic mitt and then dabbing with tea tree oil on a q-tip resolves the problem spot in 1-2 days. I use a pretty strong sunscreen on my face and the mitt removes it but I had to get used to how it feels. When I rub the mitt on my face, it does remove makeup and sunscreen but I don't get the squeaky clean feeling that I did with soap. That took some getting used to. However my face isn't dried out and tight and I don't need to put a moisturizer on right after washing, either. I'll take happier, less problematic skin over squeaky clean any day. Plus look at how much I'm going to save by not buying all that face wash.

This is the greatest product ever. I have one that I've used everyday for the past three years and works the same as the first time. You can wash it as much as you want in the washing machine. No soap required, just wet the cloth and your mascara and eyeliner comes right off!

I have to wear mineral makeup because I'm allergic to everything else, even the so-called hyper-allergenic brands! That being said I tried to use regular cleansers for sensitive skin. After a while, I started to have reactions to those too. I wasn't about to stop wearing makeup and didn't know what I was going to use as a cleanser. I LOVED the original Avon Clearskin Cleansing Scrub Exfoliant (the electric blue scrub that smelled like menthol). I finally ran out of the ones I had in stock and when I went to buy more, I was extremely disappointed to find out that the product had been discontinued. So after searching online for the original product and not finding any, I took a chance that this would at least come close. I had to say I was pleasantly surprised that except for the green color, it seems like the same product! It has the same size scrubbing granules, the same tingly-fresh feel afterwards and it smells the same. I'm very happy that I found this and I think I'm going to stock up for another 10 years before they discontinue this one, too!

I need to exfoliate daily because of my oily skin, so this scrub is great. The tingling sensation after use is great. The grain of the scrub is excellent as well. I feel like I do get a deep clean.

Jasmine Soap with Moroccan Clay - Organic Coconut

I love clay soaps and this one has a great smell and washes off clean. You might need a moisturizer in the winter when skin is naturally drier, but in the summer I don't find a need. I have sensitive skin, so the more natural and the fewer ingredients, the better.

This soap has one of the best scents,, its a delicate Jasmine scent which is not fake like those perfume soaps you get at the supermarket this soap is the real deal . along with the Moroccan clay,, it makes it feel like silk along your body,, it also has plenty of lather, I HIGHLY recommend any of these soaps, but especially this one

Neutrogena Men Invigorating Face Wash, 5.1 Ounce

Let me start by reviewing the product itself. Full disclosure: I am most definitely not a face wash aficionado. I've never found a face wash that I felt was far superior to the rest, and I don't think that this one is particularly special. But I have found face washes that were clearly inferior to the rest, and I have found face washes that were ludicrously overpriced. The good news is that this product is neither overpriced (at least on Amazon) nor inferior.

Here's the rundown:

Scent: a distinctly masculine odor that's fresh but not overdone (this is NOT Brut).

Texture: slippery gel that works into a thin lather as you scrub.

Quantity: a penny-size dollop will take care of your face; this means the product should last several months.

Finish: leaves skin feeling oil-free, smooth, and perhaps a bit dry, depending on your skin type.

Packaging: container is stable and easy to use; the plastic is strong enough that the top shouldn't crack off.

For the product alone, I'd give 4.5 stars. Gets the job done. Can't ask for much more in a face wash.

So far, so good. But here's the (potential) catch: as a result of inadequate packaging on Amazon's end, mine arrived squashed, with about 25 percent of its contents irretrievably lost. I did not bother to return the item (how do you ship a big wet mess back to Amazon), but I did provide feedback to Amazon about the packaging problem. Hopefully they will resolve this issue so that we can buy with greater confidence.

I like sleeping with a clean face because your face gets oily and picks up a lot of dirt during the day and I don't like the thought of wiping all that stuff off on to my pillow when I sleep.

I don't use soap because it drys up your face so I tried this.

1) I like the tube because it's easy to use.

2) Cleans nicely and doesn't leave your face dry.

3) I usually don't like strong scented stuff but sometimes you just need some scent to cover up assorted smells you pick up during the day.

I recommend this mainly because of 2), i.e. it doesn't dry your face up but still cleans nicely.

This facial wash does a great job of deep cleansing and it requires very little product during each use. My only gripe is there is a strong menthol smell that takes a little getting used to. Other than that, it's a pretty nice product

Mizani Puriphying Intense Cleansing Shampoo

My stylist recommended this conditioner. I used it before the Botanifying Shampoo, as directed by my stylist.

I used it on my scalp only. I felt like it would take a bit of product for me to personally get a good lather. I didn't use much for this wash session, though. What amount I did use did not strip my hair, which is a plus. I don't think it did much for my hair because I didn't use as much as I probably should have this time around.

I like the Botanyfying Shampoo much better. I will use more of this particular shampoo whenever I need a good deep clean, since it is described as a clarifying shampoo. I will probably use it once every other month.

This shampoo is awesome and should be used with the thermasmoothe shampoo also. This shampoo strips the dirt and buildup out of the hair and the thermasmoothe softens and further cleanses. I would recommend the conditioner as well...the moisturefuse

I love this shampoo! I have extremely thick, kinkycurly hair and this works wonders for me. It detangles and leaves my hair shiny. A little of it really goes a long way. My hair is about 6 inches long and a bottle lasted me almost six months with 2 washes per week.

I have super fine, curly hair that usually doesn't require much maintenance other than serious moisturizer and detangler. I've spent a lot of money on a lot of products over the years, but the first time I used this shampoo, I knew I had a winner. It suds up on the first wash, is gentle, lightly scented and it feels so good in your hands. It has enough slip that you feel like you're getting clean on the first shampoo. I started using Meaningful Beauty products about 6 years ago. It worked fairly well for the first year or two then they changed the formula a bit. I know because I compared the ingredient list from an old bottle to a new one. Within a week after they changed the formula, my face had splotches of severe dryness that was red, itchy, and inflamed. I called them to cancel my automatic shipments and let them know that their new formula was horrible and was ruining my skin. They insisted that nothing about it had changed and then tried to sell me more of the product line. Just seemed like they only cared about making a buck, no apologies for damage to my skin.

So fast forward to just a few weeks ago. I still have a bunch of leftover cleanser and moisturizer and decided to give it another try. Perhaps there was something else going on at the time with my skin. Well, it's been a couple weeks and my face is slowly getting drier and drier. I just used the nighttime moisturizer and it made my skin burn. Will immediately stop using all MB products and throw them in the trash, where they should have been dumped after the first time.

I bought the product after watching the informercial. The one thing I will congratulate the producers about is for picking up a spkesperson who is a poster child for great skin. But there is no doubt in my mind that Cindy Crawford does NOT use these products. I had great results with my Estee Lauder, but figured that if I got a great product which was also cheaper than my Estee Lauder, this would be a bonus. After 9 months of using Meaningful Beauty, I noticed that my skin was losing its elasticity, and wrinkles were coming out more pronounced. True that the products look and feel great when you apply them, but for me the feeling smooth is not the only thing that matters, and in fact does not matter at all if I don't see results. Products' texture was always great, but their effectiveness is lousy, and for me the effectiveness matters more than the smoothness. Scrubs are not smooth, but they work to remove impureties. So, if you have another product that works for you, do NOT drop it for Meaningful Beauty, because you will end up regretting it. The cost saving is really not worth it.

My sister uses the Aveeno line and it works great for her. Me, it's Estee Lauder (way more expensive than Aveeno), but at least I don't have to consider Botox or going under the needle, which prompts me to ask whether Cindy has had some "work" done. I know that Susan Lucci (Erika Kane in All My Children) also promotes a product, but Susan has regular jobs done and it's a well-known "secret". It's a bit deceiving that these actresses make you think that their youthful look is due to some product, when they go for regular facelifts... That's misrepresentation when they use their face to showcase a product as if their look was due to the product. But I'll stop there. Bottom line: Meaningful Beauty doesn't work. I have no interest in Estee Lauder or Aveeno, (and have never received any free gift from any of them). Not like some online reviewer (who discloses in fine prints that they have received free products from the manufacturer for them to try out). All the skincare prodcuts that I have ever used have been paid by me (though I always check to see when they are on sale -which is not very often).

I've used the product before I purchased this i only had a sample that is why i purchased this bigger one and it works fine,but I have noticed a change in my skin though and I'm getting some rash, so i have stopped using it for a while, seems to be irritating my skin after a few weeks of use, and I'm getting some acne which i never had, so i guess anyone willing to try it can go ahead see what happens for them, every case is not the same. Do not waste your time and money buying this product. The first box I received was an OK deal at $40.00. They sent me a second box (3 month supply) less than 30 days after my first box at a cost of $149.94, because I did not cancel within the initial 30 days. I got this product from a retail store, after keeping using this for more than one week, I almost see no improvements on my nose. Sometimes I even apply this on my nose for several times in one day, but still no obvious effect. The feeling is good when applying it on the nose, but after rinsing off the mask, it seems nothing changed on my nose, the annoying blackheads are still there. I'm 52 and need help with firming certain facial areas, mostly around mouth and jawline. I've used this three times in two weeks and I do think it's helping my skin. It's not going to give you a facelift by any means but it is benefitting, I think. I also started doing facial exercises, so between the two I feel I look a little better. I don't know how long you have to use this so it may look better after longer use. For now I'm happy with it. The downside is that since this product started getting good reviews the price has gone up considerably. I saw it for under $4.00 originally and now it's being advertized for $10.00 to $20.00. This item arrived very quickly, and I've used it a few times since I ordered it. It's very nice to use, with good results. Application is very easy and smooth, and it dries pretty quickly. It's also easy to wash off. My skin looks even better every time I use it. It looks smooth, toned and soft. I would be careful using too much, because it seems like it could dry your skin, but I haven't had that problem. I recommend this!

Firstly, let me say I dont like paying more than $5 for skin cream. I have combo skin, very pale, prone to individual pimples/breakouts. Ponds breaks me out...too greasy. I will order this, regardless of price, until i'm ready to go up to Vita Combi 2. I did not have a single blemish or skin issue while using this product! It goes fine under your makeup. It is not oily, it is not drying. It even makes those tiny facial hairs all of us women have lighter and less noticeable.

There isn't much information about this skincare line (i.e. reviews). So I felt like I was going out on a limb by purchasing this cream.

I have some of the most stubborn adult acne. You name it, I've tried it! Accutane, OTC medication, prescription medication, STEROIDS, pills.

The funny part is that I don't actually have anything really terrible, no cystic acne (that went away after teendome), just really stubborn skin that doesn't respond to any type of medication.

But I can honestly say that after two weeks of use, my skin has completely transformed. I have tons of acne scars all over my face that no "lightening" agent will resolve. But they really are going away! My acne is GONE. Just a hint though, you WILL go through a phase of purging, and for me this cream doesn't feel good on the skin, but I persisted because I spent the money on it! It only took about a week for those suckers to clear up and there are no residual marks.

I've now gone back and re-purchased the Oxygen Face Cream and the Vita-A-Kombi 3 for some of my trouble areas.

At first I really liked this product. It's gentle, and it seems to have some fine grains in it that help with the exfoliating process.

However, one thing that isn't clear from the instructions is how often you can use this product? Once a day? Twice a week? Twice a day?

Typically I would use this product in the morning before I shaved and then switch to a more gentle cleanser at night. However, after a few weeks of use, I noticed that I was getting little bumps on my skin. And, then, to my great surprise, a zit!

Yes, the product smells great and does seem to be good for those with sensitive skin, but, honestly, it's a bit too pricey for what it does. There are other, more common cleansers that work just as well.
