Neutrogena Deep Clean Shine Control Blotting Sheets, 50 Count (Pack of 2)

The mission (which I chose to accept): Test out Neutrogena Deep Clean Shine Control Blotting Sheets.

The subjects for this experiment:

#1 Me: Female, Caucasian skin, 40s....mid to upper 40s....I remember Ford being president.

#2 The Punk: Male, Caucasian skin, 16 and just got a driver's permit, (so I am the one breaking out thinking about insurance costs).

So I get the little package and I was surprised that Neutrogena could fit 50 blotting sheets in that little pack. I was only expecting, like five. However, the blotting sheets have the paper consistency a little thicker than a Bamboo rolling papers, so there were 50. I have mid to upper 40 eyes too, so I really did have a hard time reading the directions on the back of the package. I never could read the ingredients. When I opened the pack, the whole inside cover was blank, a perfect place to put the directions instead of cramming EVERYTHING on back.

Obviously, this product markets to a younger crowd.

The sheets are smart. They have a plastic feel to them...like Christmas tissue paper and plastic. After an experiment, the sheet does know water from oil. Water does nothing to it, while oil absorbs into the sheet and turns the sheet translucent. I think there is some kind of ingredient on the outside of the blotter.

The Punk also tried the sheets. He thought they were "okay", what does he know, darn teenagers. (Unless it has the Axe logo on it, he's not going to like anything). Being a boy, 16, and a punk, he did have some issues getting only one sheet out at a time. (Which was comforting to me as a mom knowing he didn't know how to properly remove a rolling paper). But I digress....

So the sheets were confiscated and I decided to carry them in my purse. They actually work well with make-up in an emergency. For instance, right before the annual Christmas picture.

I'm a big fan of blotting paper rather than caking on more powder. That said, I've tried most of them. Clean and Clear (another favorite), l'Occitane Rice paper (ok but expensive for what you get), Shisedo (ditto), Sephora brand (eh, so so) and Boscia green tea (good enough). The Neutrogena ones are great because they really work and they don't leave any residue. They are colored and turn translucent as you use them, which is handy and makes it easy to find your oily zones. If you haven't tried blotting sheets, try these, they are excellent and great price to quality.

These sheets may look like they've been cut out of blue surgical gloves and may feel the same when you use them. However, when you see how well they work, you won't care a bit. Like some other facial rehabilitation products (such as Biore), the Neutrogena Deep Clean Shine Control Blotting Sheets gives you the satisfaction of letting you see exactly what's coming off your face. (And be honest, you know you enjoy it when you see all those black spikes stuck to a pore cleansing strip when you peel it off--right before you say "yuck!" and toss it in the trash.) Depending on your skin type, you may be amazed at the quantity of oil pulled from your face. The sheets themselves are rather thin, kind of like onion skin typing paper (yes, I'm old enough to remember typing paper). However, on the inside flap of the case is a piece of sticky tape; you remove the protective covering and the tape adheres to the topmost blotting sheet when you close the case, so that when you open it back up, a single sheet has been pulled out, ready for use. Close, stick, open, use, repeat. Handy! I don't carry around a stopwatch, so I don't know if the claim of "oil control for 4 hours" is accurate; however, even if it only works for an hour or two, I would still be satisfied. The credit card-sized package means you can conveniently carry it around in your purse, wallet, pocket, or even your bra (although that might be a bit uncomfortable for long-term storage).

The only downside is that size. Unless you're blotting a small area (like your nose, perhaps), more than one sheet may need to be used. However, there are 50 sheets per pack, which means even if you use more than one sheet at a time, you're still getting a pretty good bang for your buck. Plus, it's Neutrogena; I've trusted my skin to them many times over the years, confident that their high quality standards will keep my skin in great shape. Knowing that instead of caking my pores with more powder, I'm actually getting rid of the stuff which can make my skin go bad (and when it goes bad, it really goes bad--sneaking out of the house, trashing the car, binge drinking, the whole deal--bad skin!) makes the cost of this product, which is a bit higher than other blotting papers, a worthy trade-off.

1. No powder residue on your face. Many other blotting sheets have some powder on them which can leave clumps of powder. Best feature!

2. Need to use 2 sheets to really get the oil/shine off my face.

3. Nice packaging. Has a tape strip that makes it easy to take one sheet out at a time. That way you can pull out as many or as few as you need precisely.

These sheets do what they say they will they remove the oil (shine) from your face without disrupting your makeup. They are compact, lightweight and therefore easily portable for on the go use.

The only thing I did not like about these sheets, is that they can become flimsy and a little hard to maneuver over your face after they have soaked up some oil.

Clean & Clear Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub, Oil-Free, 5 Ounce Tube

I have been using this face wash for years. It is very scrubby and leaves your face feeling tingly and clean. I have tried using other products off and on, but always end up coming back to this exfoliating scrub. The scent is nice and I feel this product is worth the money.

This is a good face scrub. It has small beads in it to help exfoliate and leaves a "tingly" feeling as it works, which makes me feel like my face is more clean. It smells a bit strong, but the smell washes away when the soap does and doesn't sink into your skin.

this scrub just refreshes your skin and senses and exfoliates so well. I havent recieved my order yet. But i always buy this scrub and come back to it. Its super faithful to me in getting the job done. Ive tried st ives, loreal scrubs, mint julep, and other clean and clear newer products. They all make me break out and make my skin feel unbalanced. This scrub never does that.

I use cetaphil face wash 10oz for Oily skin and this product and for occasional acne break outs Stride X pads for sensitive skin.

My face stays clean and gives me no problems when i stay using that combo. So, this works for me and i will stick to it. Now, Im just looking for a good moisturizer to fight wrinkles and keep my skin firm and young looking. Since im 26yrsold and see some fine lines around my eyes and light ones on my forehead.

The grains on this scrub is fine, It is not extra fine where its harsh on your skin, for me its quite perfect. Ive used scrubs that state they are fine, but no, they are just like a face wash and do not exfoliate.

This one gets the job done. But like i said they are not extra fine grains. For example like the exfoliating scrub clinique sells is extra fine but not harsh and it does a great job....but compare this to clinques price? And this one is just as good and is in the budget lol.

Weleda Deodorant Wild Rose

This deodorant is fantastic. I have tried many different kinds of all-natural deodorants in an effort to be healthier and avoid the chemicals in the mainstream antiperspirants. A few years ago, I started trying to find all-natural deodorants, buying them at Whole Foods and my local organic markets. Here's what I found out the hard way: most of them flat-out don't work. The ones that do work have other challenges problems; they make you smell like a hippie (e.g., patchouli, tee tree oil), they leave grease stains under your arms and on your clothes (e.g., Tom's of Maine), and/or they are difficult to apply (e.g., crystal deodorant).

I had been using Kiss My Face "Scented" roll-on deodorant (orange package), which my husband still uses, but I was longing for the mess-free ease of a spray deodorant, as the roll-ons do take a moment to dry. I finally found it in this one.

With a manual pump, it operates easily and produces a fine mist but without aerosols. The scent is clean and crisp, and though it smells like roses at first, the smell fades into the background quickly, which I like because I don't like to smell like my deodorant and want to still be able to use perfume without it clashing. It also works instantly -meaning, you can use it to freshen up after a long day or before you go out for the evening and it instantly removes any body odor. I think this works extremely well for most everyday uses.

Finally, it lasts a very long time -I have about 20% of the bottle still left and I have used it at least once daily (2-4 sprays per arm) for about 4 months now. I just came here to buy another one and saw it had no feedback yet so wanted to give a hearty thumbs-up!

I try to be a healthy person for the most part. Excersize, eat healthy, use natural products when they are convenient or if they work.. No Trans fats check, no preservatives check, no high fructose corn syrup check, no aluminum chloride wait, what??

I think sometimes we put more thinking into what we put into our bodies and less about what we put on our bodies! My mom has told me for years that deodorant causes alzheimers disease... "ok mom, whatever, I'll deal with that later, but for now I don't want to stink and thanks to the genes that were given me by YOU, I WILL stink if I don't use 12 and a half swipes of deodorant on each armpit.. and even then, I will still probably end up with b.o. by end of day..."

I ordered this deodorant because it's cheaper and bigger than the L'Occitane deodorant I've been using, which still had the aluminum in it. I honestly didn't think it would work for me, all I have to do is think about getting b.o. and bada bing! I stink.

I tried the deodorant the first day I got it. And to my surprise, it really worked! I was impressed, but I wasn't totally sold... I had to put this product to the ultimate test! So this morning, I laced up my tennis shoes and did a 45 minute high endurance work-out burning over 800 calories!! When I was done, I was sweating like a pregnant nun in church, like I had just showered in my yoga clothes! As soon as I caught my breath, I did the old lift the arm and sniff test.. I was really expecting to smell a combination of b.o. and roses, but there was no sign of b.o. at all!!! I still haven't showered yet.. I was too excited to write this review, and my armpits still smell fresh (the rest of my body, not so much)

I'm switching my whole family to this product, if it works for me, it will work for anyone. Of course, I'll have to get the more masculan, less rosey scent for the hubby.. but first I'm hitting the shower.

I am allergic to most main stream deodorants and antiperspirants. I use other Weleda products so thought I would give this a try.

It really does eliminate odor well although it some times has to be reapplied throughout the day, the nice thing is you can do that and it is like starting fresh at the beginning of the day.

My main complaint would be that because it contains alcohol it can be a bit drying, and really stings if you have shaved within a day or so of use.

I typically like rose scent, but not this. This smells like cheap, strong cologne and I will definitely choose something different the next time.

I've tried a half a dozen "all natural" or "organic" type deoderants with very, very limited success. The best before I tried this one was from Burt's Bees with Sage oil. I live in south Louisiana and if I don't want to offend myself or anyone else around me in the summer months in the past I usually just gave in and used standard deoderant/anti-perspirants. The Weleda Wild Rose Deoderant WORKS. It smells nice going on and does a great job keeping me smelling nice no matter what the weather or what I had for dinner the night before.

I have very oily strawberry blonde hair at the age of 22. I've had very oily hair since puberty.This didn't do what I hoped for removing the excess oils. Also didn't make my hair impressively soft, shinny, lightweight or anything else enough that would qualify it as a "keeper" for me. I will not be purchasing it a second time. The best one I have found that actually removes the oils from my hair is "BIG" from Lush organics and is so far still my favorite shampoo of choice, but since its expensive I will continue to look for a cheaper alternative. This wasn't it. I still gave it some stars because its not a *bad* shampoo and it didn't harm my hair in any way. Just the results were sub-par.

This product is really good for oily skin. It takes away all the oil and helps you to keep oily skin look good for about 3-4 months(after that time one with oily skin needs to clean face at cosmetologist).

I don't know why it's so expensive on amazon, because at local stores in my country it costs around 7$.

I've been slowly adding to my Burt's Bees skin care collection since I started using the Radiance Day Lotion & the Citrus Facial Scrub (and loved them both). So recently I added this product, the Facial Cleanser and I love it just as much. First of all I have to say I have super sensitive skin. With most product lines I cleanse & moisturize and end up with a burning, stinging face. This product is like most Burt's Bees: so gentle. I also have rosacea and extremely fair skin, so I can say for those fair maidens out there this is good stuff!

I love that it's 100% natural in a time when most beauty products are riddled with chemicals and preservatives. In fact, this cleanser is so natural that when a little bit of it got into my mouth, it tasted sweet like orange juice!

The olive oil in it makes your skin feel delightful after use typically most cleansers leave my skin dried out and parched, but not with this Burt's Bees cleanser. If you know much about skin care, you also know how wonderful olive oil is (for ALL skin types) and has been used for centuries as a "beauty secret" so I just adore Burt's Bees for including it in this cleanser. Since I began use my skin has seemed so much softer, more fresh, and healthier in general. I rarely get any zits or pimples, except lately I've been pregnant and sometimes get a few breakouts from the hormones. This cleanser does seem to help the mild breakouts as well.

I've found my cleanser, will use the rest of my life, I'm sure.

For someone who has reacted adversely even to Clinique cleansers, this Burts Bees cleanser is a godsend. It doesn't dry out my thin skin, smells fresh after a long day, and lasts forever. I just apply and wipe off with moist cotton pads. Sometimes I even use it in the bath for a pick-me-up.

It is essential for me that my personal and home products are ethically produced and relatively free of potentially harmful chemicals, so this is perfect all-around.

This is a non-traditional cleanser. It is an emollient based cleanser and has lots of citrus in it for exfolliation. I use it on my acne prone skin and find that it actually helps prevent breakouts, rather than contributes to them. I love the scent, it is very refreshing and after rubbing it in with my fingertips and then wiping off with a clean, damp face-cloth my skin feels very clean, but not tight. It takes away the dirt and excess oil without stripping the skin of every molecule of oil they way most harsh cleansers do. My skin feels very soft and smooth and hydrated when I use this regularly and I find I don't really need a moisturizer when I use it everyday. I can't say enough good things about this great cleanser. Thanks Burt's Bees!

I wanted to switch to natural products so I tried Burt's Bees. I'm 24 and haven't had pimples since middle school, but when I started using this a month ago my face popped up with pimples. Most of them have cleared up but the breakouts left marks and discoloration on the side of my face. My face was smoothe and pimple free; I never had to use powder or foundation. The Sandal Amber Milk Bath is a wonderful product with a luscious scent. The milk bath fills the bathroom with it's wonderful scent and left me feeling relaxed and peaceful. This product was relativly cheap for bubble bath and created an excet amount of long lasting bubbles! I would definitly suggest this product if you like scents such as amger jewel, vanilla or honey like scents. The milk bath also left a faint hint of it's scent on my skin afterwords. Wonderful!

I compared the ingredients from four Village Naturals products I bought. Of the 24 ingredients listed on this product, 20 are the same on all of them. Half of the ingredients are natural-coconut, milk, aloe, chamomile, orange and shea butter. But I suspect the sweet fragrances I smell are not natural. The product is soft and smells good, but those "fragrances" are probably not natural amber or vanilla.

I got my item earlier than expected and it came nicely wrapped. I then noticed a piece of tape holding the top together so nothing spills out. The top does not close and this is not a good sign for me, as I am a clumsy person. Aside from this, the product smells nice and it's bigger than I thought it was going to be as well.

I bought this for a neighbor of mine and when I received it, I was tempted to keep it for myself! (Well, for a minute anyway.) This was a beautiful set of large sized soaps that smelled wonderfully. I plan on keeping a couple of the sets on hand for a last-minute gift need.

This box of soaps is very nice, but I wanted to give it as a gift, and it did not arrive in the pretty box that is advertized. Instead, it came in a dark grey, unattractive box, which was a major disappointment to me.

Olay Total Effects Body Wash, 15.2 Ounce (Pack of 2)

This stuff is expensive, compared to what I would normally use.

And let me admit, I'm not a girl so perhaps that is part of the problem.

It did effectively remove grime and dirt after working in the garden. Its ability to remove dirty motor oil is mediocre (which is normal for this kind of product).

It did leave my skin feeling very well moisturized, and I was more comfortable throughout the day because of this aspect. I don't even know what soap I used before this (I buy what is cheapest, which varies), but cheaper soap does not leave my skin feeling as nice and moisturized. The effect lasts well into the day.

The fragrance is weak, which is a good thing because I don't want to smell like a strawberry pie or chapstick all day long.

All in all, this is clearly a high quality product that does a great job as both a soap and a moisturizer. I miss it (ran out). You get what you pay for, and if you are willing to pay extra for a high quality body wash: this one is the one I would recommend to you.

It doesn't strike me as an exceptional value, but it's substantially better than normal body wash.

I'm a long time user of Olay's "Age Defying" body wash product, so I thought I'd give the "Total Effects" a try. Total Effects comes out of the container more like a cream than a lotion, it's quite a bit stiffer in consistency than their other products. The only ingredient differences that I can see from the label are mineral oil and jojoba oil, I assume the mineral oil (3rd ingredient on the list) contributes to the texture. After washing with the product my skin does feel soft and moisturized, but not noticeably more than it is with the product I had been using. Not enough more to justify the fact that you get eight more ounces of product for about a dollar less with the "Age Defying" compared to "Total Effects".

Also. If we are trying to make our skin look younger with this product, WHY would we want to it's fragrance smell like an old lady? Because that's how the fragrance comes across to me. Quite powdery, kind of camphorish, with a tiny hint of an amber note. It smells very "grandma's perfume" to me. I much prefer the scents they've used in the "Age Defying" and in the Olay "Quench" body wash (and oh how I wish they would bring back the fragrance of the "Scented to Calm" body wash!!!!). I'm the sort of person that won't use a product if I don't really like the fragrance, even if it was miraculous, so I'll be sticking with my old product, both for price and fragrance.

I have never used a body wash, but got this when I bought some other Oily products. I used it and it is wonderful, the smell is fab and may skin feels so great and smooth. Even though I moisturize right after my bath, this seems to have made my skin even nicer.Love it.

The three people who live in our one household all gave Olay Total Effects Body Wash a try so instead of just one person's opinion this review will have three.

Person #1 said he liked it very much. The aroma is not too powerful, even pleasant, and the thickness of it when it comes out of the bottle is good. He especially liked the way his skin felt after using it the first time and said that it felt even better after more uses.

Person #2 said he too liked the way it smelled but said he didn't really notice any difference in how his skin felt afterwards. It's possible that his skin wasn't dry and therefore there was less moisturizing benefit. But he didn't have any complaints--just didn't think he'd go out of his way to buy it for himself.

Person #3 only got to use it two times because #1 has absconded with it. She likes everything everyone else said they liked. The aroma is lightly fruity and she definitely felt a difference in how her skin felt afterwards. However, she found the jar a little difficult to open when her hands were already wet so she had to open the container before her hands got wet. Not a big deal, obviously.

Over all opinion is positive, especially for those who have problems with dry winter skin. Since both men and woman liked the way it smells, I think it's safe to say that the product will appeal to almost anyone, even those who are sensitive to highly perfumed products.

Edit: I apologize for having to change my review. Person #1 has had an allergic reaction to something in this product and had to discontinue use immediately. We do not know if it is something in the perfume or moisturizer or perhaps both. This product is probably not a good one for those with sensitive skin.

I tried a few Olay products in the past, but my skin didn't react too well to them. Therefore, I was a bit hesitant to try another of their products.

My skin is aging well and for some time I was able to just get away with washing and moisturizing with cocoa butter. However, I started to notice little blotches and a lack of luster to my skin tone.

I remembered reading an article about an actress who said that one of her few splurges are trips to the spa for body treatments. It reminded me that while I could use a good spa treatment, why not exfoliate with a cleanser at home? I used to use an exfoliating cleanser all the time, but I switched to Ivory bath soap because of its purity.

Well after trying the Olay Total Effects, I was overly impressed. Normally when you use a shower wash, your skin feels great until you dry off and there's no long that dewey, supple feel. However, this product kept my skin so soft and supple long after I had showered and dried off, that I was left stunned. My skin is so soft that I can't stop touching it. My boyfriend tries to get in on the action, but I tell him to leave me alone (LOL). Kidding. But this product truly works and, OH, it smells AMAZING.

As for the exfoliating, I will have to wait and see if my skin tone improves, but I have a feeling that I won't be disappointed :).

When it arrived, it had dried up a little at the top, with about .5 cm lost, which makes it look like I used it, so therefore it will wait it's turn in my long line of facial products because my intentions of gifting it were completely dashed.

This is a nice quality moisturizer that works well under-makeup. It is less expensive than some others and comes in a pump bottle that lasts a long time.

Almay Cleansing is the best face cleansing product, but it came to me squished out of the containers. I purchased six. Out of the six only one was still o.k. Too bad as the product is very good. I have had this sent by Amazon before by a different beauty product company and all was o.k. with the earlier package. This shipment was packaged poorly.
