Neutrogena Deep Clean Shine Control Blotting Sheets, 50 Count (Pack of 2)

The mission (which I chose to accept): Test out Neutrogena Deep Clean Shine Control Blotting Sheets.

The subjects for this experiment:

#1 Me: Female, Caucasian skin, 40s....mid to upper 40s....I remember Ford being president.

#2 The Punk: Male, Caucasian skin, 16 and just got a driver's permit, (so I am the one breaking out thinking about insurance costs).

So I get the little package and I was surprised that Neutrogena could fit 50 blotting sheets in that little pack. I was only expecting, like five. However, the blotting sheets have the paper consistency a little thicker than a Bamboo rolling papers, so there were 50. I have mid to upper 40 eyes too, so I really did have a hard time reading the directions on the back of the package. I never could read the ingredients. When I opened the pack, the whole inside cover was blank, a perfect place to put the directions instead of cramming EVERYTHING on back.

Obviously, this product markets to a younger crowd.

The sheets are smart. They have a plastic feel to them...like Christmas tissue paper and plastic. After an experiment, the sheet does know water from oil. Water does nothing to it, while oil absorbs into the sheet and turns the sheet translucent. I think there is some kind of ingredient on the outside of the blotter.

The Punk also tried the sheets. He thought they were "okay", what does he know, darn teenagers. (Unless it has the Axe logo on it, he's not going to like anything). Being a boy, 16, and a punk, he did have some issues getting only one sheet out at a time. (Which was comforting to me as a mom knowing he didn't know how to properly remove a rolling paper). But I digress....

So the sheets were confiscated and I decided to carry them in my purse. They actually work well with make-up in an emergency. For instance, right before the annual Christmas picture.

I'm a big fan of blotting paper rather than caking on more powder. That said, I've tried most of them. Clean and Clear (another favorite), l'Occitane Rice paper (ok but expensive for what you get), Shisedo (ditto), Sephora brand (eh, so so) and Boscia green tea (good enough). The Neutrogena ones are great because they really work and they don't leave any residue. They are colored and turn translucent as you use them, which is handy and makes it easy to find your oily zones. If you haven't tried blotting sheets, try these, they are excellent and great price to quality.

These sheets may look like they've been cut out of blue surgical gloves and may feel the same when you use them. However, when you see how well they work, you won't care a bit. Like some other facial rehabilitation products (such as Biore), the Neutrogena Deep Clean Shine Control Blotting Sheets gives you the satisfaction of letting you see exactly what's coming off your face. (And be honest, you know you enjoy it when you see all those black spikes stuck to a pore cleansing strip when you peel it off--right before you say "yuck!" and toss it in the trash.) Depending on your skin type, you may be amazed at the quantity of oil pulled from your face. The sheets themselves are rather thin, kind of like onion skin typing paper (yes, I'm old enough to remember typing paper). However, on the inside flap of the case is a piece of sticky tape; you remove the protective covering and the tape adheres to the topmost blotting sheet when you close the case, so that when you open it back up, a single sheet has been pulled out, ready for use. Close, stick, open, use, repeat. Handy! I don't carry around a stopwatch, so I don't know if the claim of "oil control for 4 hours" is accurate; however, even if it only works for an hour or two, I would still be satisfied. The credit card-sized package means you can conveniently carry it around in your purse, wallet, pocket, or even your bra (although that might be a bit uncomfortable for long-term storage).

The only downside is that size. Unless you're blotting a small area (like your nose, perhaps), more than one sheet may need to be used. However, there are 50 sheets per pack, which means even if you use more than one sheet at a time, you're still getting a pretty good bang for your buck. Plus, it's Neutrogena; I've trusted my skin to them many times over the years, confident that their high quality standards will keep my skin in great shape. Knowing that instead of caking my pores with more powder, I'm actually getting rid of the stuff which can make my skin go bad (and when it goes bad, it really goes bad--sneaking out of the house, trashing the car, binge drinking, the whole deal--bad skin!) makes the cost of this product, which is a bit higher than other blotting papers, a worthy trade-off.

1. No powder residue on your face. Many other blotting sheets have some powder on them which can leave clumps of powder. Best feature!

2. Need to use 2 sheets to really get the oil/shine off my face.

3. Nice packaging. Has a tape strip that makes it easy to take one sheet out at a time. That way you can pull out as many or as few as you need precisely.

These sheets do what they say they will they remove the oil (shine) from your face without disrupting your makeup. They are compact, lightweight and therefore easily portable for on the go use.

The only thing I did not like about these sheets, is that they can become flimsy and a little hard to maneuver over your face after they have soaked up some oil.

Placente Moisturizer Cream Gold (8 oz)

My boyfriend got this product for my mom to try. She said it worked well, so I used it because I have dry hands and skin. One application and I was sold! The cream left my hands and face feeling smooth and revitalized. It has placenta extract in it, so it's supposed to heal the skin. It's working very well for me. The wrinkles under my eyes are less noticeable, and my skin is so soft and smooth. They also have Placente Moisturizer Cream Regular (8 oz) and Placente Gold Essence Cream (8 oz). The regular cream is less potent, but just as good especially for younger women, while the Gold Essence is more potent and made for post menopausal women. Give it a shot. I did, and I don't regret it at all!

For the last five years, I've used this face wash. Yummy! Yummy smell, yummy texture, no irritation, no drying out, and very clear skin. Like, I don't get acne unless I switch to another face wash. An esthetician recommended because it balances and smooths skin. He was so right.

In terms of whitening/lightening/brightening, I don't know. I'm out in the Florida sun all the time, everyday and, sure, I wear sunscreen religiously (Prescribitves SPF 15 Mattifying Lotion), but I'm Black and maybe whitening is a goal for some Europeans and Asians, but it isn't my aim and thankfully my skin has not gotten any lighter.

It was a bittersweet moment when I started using this cleansing cream recently. It is just what I have been looking for in a cleanser: cleans without drying, removes make-up, easy to use, smells absolutely delicious (unfortunately for my wallet this might make me use more of it than I need!), and my skin feels so clean AND moist afterwards (and I could use some lightening). The downside is I will have to find a way to afford this product from now on, but I just can't keep trying cleansers that disappoint. So this is it for me. Buf-Puf Double-Sided Body Sponge (Pack of 4)

This is the product I wanted but there was not a clear description. I had to rely on other buyers to find out if it was correct size for using with the handle. I have been trying to find these body sponges for long time so was happy to see them available here.

If you have sensitive skin this is a great product. I use it twice a day, every day. It is great in the morning to get a nice clean "canvass" upon which to apply your makeup. It also does a nice job removing makeup in the evening.

I love the way this product cleans my face without leaving it feeling tight and too dry they way some products can. I have naturally oily skin and this product removes the surface oil and makeup and leaves my skin feeling natural yet clean.

This product has little, to no scent. As with the entire Cetaphil line this product is designed for sensitive skin and is non-comedogenic.

I would recommend this product to anyone that wants to clean their skin without removing all the protective oils from their skin. My dermatologist recommended this years ago, and I am still a happy consumer of the product.

I have dry skin that is also a little sensetive and this product really works wonders for me. I have been using this cleanser for over 15 years and it still is the best, gentle, never harsh, and non-drying. I have been using this for my face for over 10 years. It is very inexpensive (especially compared to other cosmetic brands) and cleans well without irritating or drying the skin. I also used it on my 3 kids. It comes in handy on the changing table, especially when the wipes were not quite "wet" enough to do the job! It is also great for any spot cleaning anywhere on the body without rinsing. It can just be wiped off without leaving any residue. It is very gentle, even for newborn's skin.

Cetaphil make a great line of products. Almost everyone can use them, because there is no fragrance, colour or anything else to irritate your skin. This cleanser is no exception.

It's actually got no real fragrance, but you can smell the natural smell from all the neutral ingrediants in it. It feels nice going on the skin, but if you have heavy make-up on, it's not the best remover. You should probably use this either only in the morning before applying make-up, or if you use a non-heavy make-up.

I use this often I love how my skin doesn't feel tight or dry after using it and I lent it to a friend one time who has very sensitive skin, and she had no problems. Give it a try. It makes a cheap alternative to expensive cleansers that do either the same job or a less superior job. This is great.

I've gone thru almost a whole tube and I have to say for dry skin it does a good job however it's more expensive then it should be and I'm not sure I will purchase again. I think Philosophy overall has become very expensive in the last year or so and while the results are generally good IMO there are other products out there that are comparable with a more reasonable price point.

Do not use this all the time but when I do I am so happy I have it. Removes all make-up and gives hydration to winter face.

I love this cleaner I have very dry skin and so far this is the only cleaner I have been able to find that does not dry out my skin. The suck part about this is that they've stopped making it so if you like it and can find it now buy it up and then start looking for a new cleaner. I first used the Rebalancing Facial Cleanser after having my second child and hormones were making my skin very unpredictable. For a few months I had a major issue with acne. It was weird for me because I am in my late twenties. I went to the dermatologist and he said the face wash I was using was too harsh. My skin gets very oily and I always thought I need a good face cleanser to help with the oil and get the dirt out of my pores (large pores). However, the dermatologist assured me to give this a try and it should be more than enough for my skin. Surprisingly, my dermatologist was right! Now, my skin is much more clearer and soft. I got tired of always having really dry skin after taking a shower. Areas of my face would start to peel and flake which was not attractive at all. I just dealt with it because what is the point of taking a shower if I don't use soap to get clean? I just had a derma peel and the esthetician suggested this product to me, well actually she gave me samples. I fell in love with it. A little goes a long way, plus it has a very light fragrance, seems runny in texture, and it leaves your skin ultra supple. It does what it says, it removes that extra oil and residue. So if you have combination, which I have normal to slight combination, or oily skin this product is for you. And the best part you get a product that is resonably priced here rather than a Medical Spa.

Cleaning Bar Soap with Charcoal and Hinoki Oil

Really nice soap with a mild cedar like scent that leaves skin feeling soft. The charcoal powder within the soap is non abrasive while the clay gives a silky feel to skin and rinses very clean with no residue. The bar is a long rectangular shape and kind of odd to handle, so I recommend cutting it in half. Been using this as a shampoo bar as well with good results-hair and scalp not nearly as dry with other soaps/shampoos.

This bar lathers into a milky foam and draws the oil out of my pores without leaving my skin feeling like plastic bag that's about to rip apart. ONE bar lasts about at least a YEAR (I cut it into quarters). I am asian with oily, flaky, sensitive skin, and I live in the Arizona desert. I've tried cleansers from the drug store (Cetaphil, Neutrogena, etc), Sephora, Ulta, Paula's Choice, etc... my skin has finally found it's soul mate in this bar. This review goes for both the white and black bar soaps. Discovered this 3 years ago in a remote spa resort in Atami, Japan. Stocked up then but finally ran out. Phyto Phytopanama + Intelligent Shampoo - Hair Prone to Oiliness Hair Shampoos

I read previous reviews about this product before buying it so I certainly did my research. I did not find the product to be what I needed it to be. My hair gets very oily after only a day or two so I really thought that this would be the miracle shampoo I was looking for. It wasnt! I did find it extremely runny as other reviewers said it was (I would recommend breaking vitamin E capsules into the shampoo to thicken it up, but it may defeat the purpose of the anti-oily hair remedy). Nonetheless, I would not recommend it so fast to others; espcially for the price. However, other consumers seem to think it works quite well; my hair may just be THAT problematic :(

I have been looking for a solution for my oily hair for some time now -I wash my hair in the morning, and by that evening it's greasy (sometimes sooner if I'm messing with my hair) -and I've never found anything that works, until now. I read online that to get the best effect, you should use it every day for a week, and then switch to once a week.

(Aside -note that I do not blow-dry my hair or use styling products on my hair. Someone who does may have different results than I did.)

First use, Monday: following a tip online, I washed first with Phytopanama, followed by a clarifying shampoo (Neutrogena Shampoo, Anti-Residue Formula, 6 Ounce). The Phytopanama is runny not viscous at all, like most shampoos but following another tip from online, I poured the Phytopanama into the cap and from their onto my head. It lathered very nicely (although, if you know anything about soap, you know that has nothing to do with how well soap cleans). I didn't care for the smell, which was struck me as spicy/woodsy. Definitely a masculine smell, but the clarifying shampoo took care of that. Throughout the day, my hair did feel a little dry, which was to be expected, since I usually use a conditioner of some sort.

Tuesday morning: Success!!! When I woke, my hair wasn't oily at all. Even so, I wasn't willing to go to work without washing risk having an oil spill in the middle of the day? Too soon! So I washed the second day with the Phytopanama. I would have left it at that, but the smell was bothering me, so I finished with a 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner. I didn't want to use a separate conditioner, in case it was too heavy; I needn't have worried, as my hair still felt a little dry.

Wednesday morning (today): This morning, my hair wasn't quite as clean as on Tuesday, but it was still relatively oil-free. I think this may be because of the 2-in-1 I used on Tuesday. This morning, after the Phytopanama, I decided to use Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Shampoo, 13-Fluid Ounce and conditioner to see how my hair reacts. (GF Pure Clean claims to not leave residue, but the reviews on Amazon are 50-50; I've not yet seen any significant change one way or another.) The GF Pure Clean is a new product for me, and I've only used it a few times, so we'll see how it works with the Phytopanama.

TOMORROW/LATER THIS WEEK: I plan on following the Phytopanama with Garnier Shampoo, Sleek and Shine, 13 Fluid Ounce and conditioner, which has been my go-to shampoo/conditioner for years to see if my hair reacts any differently. I also plan on following the Phytopanama with only a conditioner to see how that works.

The verdict: Based on my experiences thus far, Phytopanama does seem to be significantly lessening the amount of oil that my scalp produces. Whether it will maintain this level once I switch to once-a-week usage, which I plan to do in conjunction with the Neutrogena clarifying shampoo, has yet to be determined (but I'm hopeful). I will post an update in a few months when I have a more definitive answer.

Clinique Clinique Pore Refining Solutin Instant Perfector

I normally can't wear primers because they crease or cake under makeup but this really makes a difference in my end result and the fact that it stays on all day! I have obscenely large pores and I rarely like my finished look but now there is a big difference in my pores and a smoother finish to my makeup!

I bought this and several other products based on a Today Show piece re cosmetics that really seemed to do what they claim to. I've always had pore issues so gave this a try and it does really seem to reduce the appearance of pores on my nose, not just when wearing but after as well. The product is slightly tinted which I missed in the description and "fair" is the default tint. If your skin is darker, there is a darker tint so pay attention. BUt I am pleased with this it costs plenty for a tiny tube but it's worth it to me.

This Murad product actually does all it claims to do. Fine lines are no longer viseable, darker areas under eyes and the morning puffy look is gone! I used more expensive lines, such as Chanel's Sublimage. This cream is as good or better and much less costly! This is a cream I will continue to use. The dispenser is well designed and no excessive cream is wasted. Being over 60 yrs and desert heat in Arizona can be brutal on the tender skin around eyes-but with this cream you would never know it!

Very nice product. I've been very pleased using the Murad Resurgence Renewing Eye Cream. It's light and creamy but not at all greasy. I've noticed a big difference in those tiny laugh lines around my eyes. Unfortunately I still have the dark circles but one problem is better than two. I will continue to use and make another purchase when I get low. It's worth it.

I bought this conditioner on recommendation from my colorist. I am sorry I did. It leaves a film on my hair...it doesn't feel as soft or smooth as it does with other products.
