I'm dark skin....I have stretch marks and some dark spots and discoloration.... after A LOT of research I came up with this product.

I purchased this product after my family continued to have ongoing issues with dry skin and hair. After reading about all of the benefits shea butter had to offer, I decided to purchase it. I chose this vendor due to the overwhelmingly positive responses.

This product was a good substitute for the petrolatum, lanolin, and mineral oil based products were we using in my household. However, the positive affects began to wear off after about a month of use. I noticed dry areas returning for myself, my daughter, and my husband. I did more research to figure out what the issue might be.

The real issue is that this product is not pure, organic, unrefined shea butter. It has been filtered, and refined. Additionally, some type of oil has been added to it. Oil, in most cases, does not moisturize. The molecules in oils are too large to permeate skin and hair shafts so they usually just sit on the surface. Shea butter is an emollient. It has sealing abilities as well as moisturizing abilities. Therefore, adding oils and refining it reduces its effectiveness.

I would recommend only using this product in place of vaseline or some other non-moisturizing product. If you are looking for all of the REAL benefits of shea butter, purchase from a fair trade, certified organic website that guarantees unrefined, organic, un-tampered with shea butter.

This shea butter is a great moisturizer, it feels amazing on the skin and works great as a hair conditioner too.

It *does* smell. Not good. To me, it smells like old clay. It's not a horrible smell, it's just not good.

I plan to whip the shea butter up with a little coconut oil and a nice smelling essential oil to improve the scent and make it a little easier to use.

It is a little gritty when you first feel it. If you've ever played with 'moon sand', you will understand. But it melts quickly and smoothly in your hands

Overall, 4 out of 5 stars, and considering that it smells the way it does only because it is organic and natural, I probably shouldn't have even subtracted one star.

B Kamins Medicated Acne Gel (select option/size)

I recommend this product to people (esp. adult women) who suffer from mild to moderate acne and need a product with more potentcy than the 2.5% benzoyl peroxide that you get with Proactiv and lots of OTC products. I have noticed, however, that this B. Kamins 5% acne gel packs a slightly weaker punch than Earth Therapeutics' Clari-T Acne Serum Nº5. The latter frequently goes out of stock, though, so I use this B. Kamins product as backup.

I spread a thin layer of this acne gel over my entire face each night and have had no problems with my skin getting dried out or flaky. I saw immediate improvement within the first few days; and after 4-5 weeks, my skin was (and still is) clearer than it has been since I was 12. I used to have 15-20 blemishes on my face at any given time, and now I have 2 or 3 (no joke!). The gel is clear with little white flecks, and it has virtually no scent. (B. Kamins touts its "Bio-Maple" complex used in this and other products, so I was actually hoping it would smell a little like maple syrup; alas, no.) Although the gel feels slightly grainy upon application, it spreads around easily and is quickly absorbed.

If you're in the market for a 5% BPO product, I must honestly recommend that you try Earth Therapeutics' Clari-T Acne Serum Nº5 first, as it's more effective than the B. Kamins gel and is only $6.99. Why is it more effective? I have virtually zero blemishes when I use it, versus 2-3 with B. Kamins. It's a minor difference, but noticeable to me.

The B. Kamins gel is not a bad choice, though, so if you're going to buy it, shop around to get a better deal -you can definitely find it for less than Amazon sells it. Good luck!

I used to use "ddf benzyl peroxide gel" but they changed the formula to a cream that actually made my break outs worse. After about a week or so of research I decided to try this gel and this one works just as well for me as the old ddf gel did. I tend to get spotty breakouts (about 2-3 single but sometimes large pimples at a time) every week to two weeks and it has taken care of my most recent breakout within 24-48 hrs, even overnight no one would know I had a problem unless I pointed it out. I would say I love it but I've only had it a couple of weeks so far so I have to make sure it continues to work: so far, so good.

I was unfamiliar with the Soap and Glory line, until I read a review of one of their products (sadly no longer available), in The New York Times. and decided to give it a try. It was absolutely the best tinted moisturizing lotion I had ever used. I decided to try other products from Soap and Glory, including the facial cleansers, shampoo, conditioner and hand moisturizers. All have performed far above expectations. Each does the job extremely well and the scent is delicious. I would highly recommend all the Soap and Glory products. I looked at the shipping weight and it said 5oz. My bad for assuming that meant the four containers were about 1 oz each. I shoudl had read the product description more closely. I recieved this same product sample form my Dermatologist gratis when I started to regime in December so I feel a little ripped off. The product line itself is nothing short of a miracle but to pay $25.00 for less than 1.25 oz of total product is just smarmy on the sellers part. I ordered this because I travel and wanted to continue using the product which has been prescribed as I undergo Titan Laser treatments. I use the moisturizer and sunscreen daily. Dont much care for the cleansing cream or scrub. They also have a hand cream that is to die for. I use it on my hands and chest twice daily and it has worked miracles. First, I think the sample size is meager for the amount of product you get. The products in the kit are a nice way to try the creme cleanser, facial exfoliator, broad spectrum sun block, and skin elixir. Of the products, the facial exfoliator and sun block I will purchase. The sun block is emollient without greasy and absorbs well without that white mask you get from mineral sun blocks. The exfoliator is gentle, non irritating with my Retin-A, and leaves my skin glowing. I'm in my 50's so drying is always an issue with skin products. This moisturizer is not only great to balance your skin out but I've found that it also helps acne scars heal much faster. After 3-4 days of applying a liberal coat of it day & night, acne scars from popped pimples (red, broken-skin sort of scars) heal to actually smooth skin. Within 1-2 weeks on the same area and it fades leaving very little darkness to almost none whatsoever.

Yes, it does smell like tea tree oil but the smell doesn't last all day (only about 10-15 minutes, if you can stand it...I happen to love the smell though) but the moisturizer does! The only thing I could possibly complain about is that they don't have it in a bigger container but the 2 oz. has lasted me for about 3 months and I don't use it very sparingly...

I have had horrible acne for years and I have tried absolutely everything (from medicated acne creams to the drugstore ones) and nothing seemed to be calming it down. I was on antibiotics and birth control but my acne was still rampant! I would baby my skin and not scrub or dry it out too much. I also used a clay mask specifically for acne once a week. Queen Helene Oatmeal N' Honey Facial Scrub 6 oz ( Multi-Pack)

I've used the Queen Helene Oatmeal & Honey facial scrub for over 10 years. Over time it has been a bit difficult to find in the stores, so occasionally I've tried other brands, such as the St. Ives Apricot Scrub. Compared to St. Ives, the Queen Helene is a much finer-grained scrub, and a bit creamier. However, I think a lot of people may prefer the strong apricot scent of the St. Ives to the very mild honey & oatmeal scent of the Queen Helene. I personally love the warm smell of the Queen Helene scrub, but if you're looking for a bracing, lingering scent you won't find it here.

I keep the scrub in the shower and I rub some in my hands every time I shower to soften rough spots, and once or twice a week on my face. I'm happy to find it available on Amazon so I can stock up. If you want to check out the smell and consistency of this product before ordering, it is often available at Walgreens.

Finally, although the package design has recently changed, this seems to be the same as the old version in the yellow tube.

It smells really nice and has a decent amount of little scrubby bits, but honestly it's barely last two weeks and it's kind of upsetting because I usually get a month out of a bottle this size.

Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser

Having recently found the need to go "Gluten Free" I have had to switch facial products as well, it's amazing just what you'll find gluten in. MyChelle Dermaceuticals has provided an excellent array of products to choose from all of which are gluten and wheat free. I've only used 3 products so far, as I've just had to switch in the last 2 weeks. But I like what I've tried. I have very dry skin, year round, so I've started with the Pumpkin cleanser, the Deep Repair Cream and the Fabulous Eye Cream. I'm not looking for something to remove wrinkles-as this cannot happen unless you have surgery. But I'm happy with the results thus far on my skin staying hydrated. I purchase most of my facial products from Vitacost, but I did want to leave a review on Amazon because I often refer to customer opinions from here. SkinMedica SkinMedica Sensitive Skin Cleanser - disc.

This product is too expensive and no different than a drug store product. I have found a replacement that is half the cost and works much better. The replacement is Correctives Skin Care and there is a noticable improvement in my skin.

This is a gentle cleanser for sensitive and/or post procedure skin, and like many others does not cleanse very well. Also, too much comes out of the bottle at once (difficult to control) and you can end up wasting some. I much prefer the Obagi cleansers (NuDerm is what I use). Small amount goes a long way and really cleanses/removes makeup. Also fine for sensitive and/or post procedure skin. I am a huge SkinMedica fan but this product falls short.

This soap does a great job cleaning your skin. I love it!

My skin feels incredibly smooth after and tends to inhibit hair growth.

My wife is big on all things natural and organic and has dragged me, somewhat reluctantly, into her world. This soap is one of a number of things I've found that I really, really like. It cleans well, rinses off easily, and leaves me feeling fresh with a nice herbal scent. I really hadn't understood how good I could feel after a shower until I tried this. There's no soap residue, no medicinal smell, and none of the guy or girlie smells that most of the other soaps leave.........just a nice clean feel and a faint herbal scent. I'm still not buying completely into my wife's organic crusade but this is one product on which I've become a true convert.

The only downside I can see on this soap is that it tends to get soft and messy on the downward side if left flat in the shower soap dish. Keep it up off the surface and you've got the perfect shower soap.

Anyway, smells pretty great, I've only washed my face with it so far, but it feels softer already, and clean. Maybe a tiny bit tight though. I'll edit if there are bigger benefits, such as skin clearing and such. And shipping was super fast, probably because I have Amazon Prime though lol

Ok, so I've been trying it for a few days and discovered something, if you're buying it for the benefits of turmeric, be warned, turmeric is the very last ingredient. One nice thing is 75% of the ingredients are organic, but when i get out of the shower, my skin feels very dry and tight. I don't like that. Other soaps don't do that to me. Noticed no change in my skin, such as clearing of acne or dark spots.

SO: if you wanted it for clearer skin, if it works, it'll take a whiiiile, and may Not work. I think you'd be better off getting the turmeric root, or the powder from your local grocery store, making it into a paste and applying it. It'll probably work quicker.

I'm a huge fan of all things Sexy Hair, but this isn't my favorite product. It might be the organic ingredients, but I feel like my hair didn't get clean using this shampoo. It would take a handfull to cover my head of short hair, I couldn't imagine how much it would take to wash long hair! It didn't sud up as normal shampoo does, but once again, it probably relates to the organic nature. I first stumbled across this product at a salon sale, and I am so glad to have found it for such a good price on Amazon! It's the only shampoo I've used where my hair still feels clean the next day. It doesn't smell like anything, which is fine with me. I'd rather do away with fake fragrances anyway. I really like that it doesn't have a bunch of harmful chemicals, like sodium laurel sulfate, which strips hair. I am going to stock up just in case it is no longer sold on Amazon, because I love this stuff!

I purchased this from my local supermarket, I was looking for an emollient cream for my elbows, lips and other assorted dry patches. On a whim, I picked up this product. Upon opening it, the first thing I noticed was its scent, it's lightly cocoa buttery, and very pleasant. The scent fades fast, so it doesn't linger on you. I find it's considerably less greasy than regular Vaseline, and sinks into the skin to moisturize more effectively than the regular Vaseline as well. This product has a thicker slightly waxier consistency that I like. All in all, I would purchase it again as an effective heavy moisturizer for extremely dry skin. As for a skin protectant, especially for baby bottoms, Thickly applied, I don't see why it wouldn't be as effective as regular Vaseline..

I have spent thousands on every RX out there, all the way to enbrel, humira, remicade and expensive steroids. Years to lead up to a $3.00 jar of vaseline with cocoa butter. My skin is clear after 2 weeks! It is worth a shot if you suffer!

This is the first time i have tried this stuff and im pretty impressed. I put it on and left it there to dry for 15 minutes and then it washed right off. My skin feel tighter but not dry. And my pores really are noticeably smaller. I will keep using this. It does tingle but its not bad.

So, I have some Lumene products that I really like and there was a deal on this so I decided to try it out. I didn't realize that it was a tingling sort of mask. I really don't normally enjoy those because I always associate the tingles with burning.

My cheeks are fairly sensitive and I avoided those completely, unfortunately, it still tingled too much for me wherever it was applied. I had to wash it off before I could even allow it to dry.

I was really disappointed in the product and myself because I really love masks. Perhaps, a different one will be a better fit.

I guess I really can't say if it does what it say's it will. This is just my personal experience.

I purchased this product for a friend, who likes this product a lot. However, it has not been made by Dove for a year or more. When I first purchased it, it was around $6. Now only a few vendors have it in stock. I only gave this 2 stars because of the ridiculous price over $17 I paid for my last order. I saw it for over $40 from one vendor. I guess there are only a few left.

I ordered this product hoping to get the same effects that I have seen from more concentrated toners (notice, the ad doesn't mention the concentration of the glycolic in the toner). I was wrong. This toner really didn't do anything for me. If you're looking for a really good glycolic toner to get the job done, go with DDF's 10% toner. It's the best, by far, that I have tried.

In addition, the item arrived packed very poorly. One of the bottles had leaked out during shipment so that it was only about 1/2 full.

Overall, if you're not looking for something to really refine your pores and let you know it's working, pay the extra $10 and get DDF. You won't be sorry. This product may be better suited for aging skin; I'm a little on the younger end of those using these products.

Background:

I have had acne problems for 11yrs, have tried many kinds of acne solutions, from creams and antibiotics to laser and light treatments...not saying none of these didn't work, but having acne as a genetic, chronic problem still causes it to come back, so I needed an ongoing solution cheap too! And I wanted to avoid antibiotics..chronic use is unhealthy. I feel like the only thing I haven't tried is Accutane, which at one point my acne was so bad i was recommended to try it by a dermatologist, but I did not want to do it due to the various side effects. I have a friend working at an oncology dept at the hospital and they give Accutane to cancer patients! That's how strong and toxic it can be.

Anyways, back to my point...here's a great way I am dealing with my acne now. Cheap, easy, doesn't require much time at all, and safe.

First step, I use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil, then use this glycolic acid toner product w/cotton ball dabbing over the entire face, then use thin layer of benzoyl peroxide gel, then lastly, use sunscreen (w/moisturizer) for the day and facial moisturizer at night. Benzoyl peroxide comes in 2.5%, 5%, or 10%, so use the strengths in relation to the severity of your acne. I do this twice a day, when i get up and before going to sleep. Better, cheaper, safer solution than going to the dermatologist and paying for prescriptions. My skin has much improved.

I really love this facial toner and would recommend it to anyone, especially those in their 30's and above. It is specially formulated for mature or sun damaged skin.
